Premier League New Year team news: Injuries and suspensions update

TUESDAY'S GAMES

SOUTHAMPTON VS. CRYSTAL PALACE

SOUTHAMPTON: Alex McCarthy could keep his place in goal after his clean sheet against Manchester United. Saints are still without striker Charlie Austin, who is both suspended and affected by a hamstring injury. Left-back Ryan Bertrand (hamstring) could be back in contention.
Provisional squad: McCarthy, Forster, Taylor, Hoedt, Stephens, Yoshida, Gardos, Pied, McQueen, Romeu, Bednarek, Bertrand, Lemina, Hojbjerg, Ward-Prowse, Davis, Boufal, Tadic, Redmond, Long, Gabbiadini.

CRYSTAL PALACE: Roy Hodgson hopes to have Ruben Loftus-Cheek, James McArthur and Jeffrey Schlupp available after knocks. Jason Puncheon and Scott Dann also suffered injuries against Man City, meaning that with Mamadou Sakho and Joel Ward also injured, Martin Kelly and Damien Delaney will vie for selection in central defence.
Provisional squad: Speroni, Hennessey, Kelly, Tomkins, Riedewald, Delaney, Schlupp, Van Aanholt, Souare, Townsend, Loftus-Cheek, Cabaye, Milivojevic, McArthur, Mutch, Ladapo, Sako, Kaikai, Zaha, Benteke.

SWANSEA VS. TOTTENHAM

SWANSEA: Carlos Carvalhal will be without full-back Kyle Naughton after accepting a Football Association violent conduct charge for a stamp on Watford's Stefano Okaka during Saturday's 2-1 win at Vicarage Road. Tammy Abraham is a doubt with a niggling stomach injury and fellow striker Wilfried Bony is battling a hamstring problem, while Ki Sung-yueng (calf) and Kyle Bartley (knee ligaments) are likely to miss out again.
Provisional squad: Fabianski, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson, Mesa, Carroll, Fer, Ayew, Narsingh, Abraham, Bony, Nordfeldt, Rangel, Van der Hoorn, Clucas, Sanches, Fulton, Dyer, Routledge, McBurnie.

TOTTENHAM: Harry Kane missed training on Friday due to a cold but has continued to be assessed, with boss Mauricio Pochettino hopeful he could be ready. Victor Wanyama could make his first appearance since August as he steps up his return after long-term knee trouble.
Provisional squad: Lloris, Vorm, Gazzaniga, Rose, Davies, Walker-Peters, Vertonghen, Sanchez, Dier, Foyth, Trippier, Aurier, Winks, Amos, Wanyama, Sissoko, Dembele, Alli, Eriksen, Son, Lamela, Llorente, Sterling, Kane.

WEST HAM VS. WEST BROM

WEST HAM: Mark Noble is battling to shake off a hamstring injury and Michail Antonio has yet to resume training after a groin problem. Reece Oxford is back from a loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach, but Sam Byram (hamstring), Jose Fonte and Edimilson Fernandes (both ankle) are still out.
Provisional squad: Adrian, Hart, Masuaku, Zabaleta, Collins, Ogbonna, Reid, Cresswell, Kouyate, Oxford, Rice, Obiang, Quina, Lanzini, Ayew, Arnautovic, Carroll, Sakho, Hernandez.

WEST BROM: With just 48 hours between games Alan Pardew could recall James McClean, Oliver Burke, Grzegorz Krychowiak and Allan Nyom. Salomon Rondon (hamstring) is still struggling while Nacer Chadli (hip) and James Morrison (Achilles) are out for Albion.
Provisional squad: Foster, Myhill, Palmer, Hegazi, McAuley, Evans, Nyom, Dawson, Gibbs, Brunt, Field, Livermore, Phillips, Krychowiak, Barry, Burke, Yacob, McClean, Robson-Kanu, Rondon, Rodriguez.

MAN CITY VS. WATFORD

MAN CITY: Gabriel Jesus is out, most probably along with Kevin De Bruyne, after they suffered injuries in Sunday's 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace. Pep Guardiola also does not expect David Silva to return after being absent for personal reasons. Defenders Vincent Kompany, Fabian Delph and John Stones could yet return but left-back Benjamin Mendy (knee) and midfielder Phil Foden (ankle) are still out.
Provisional squad: Ederson, Bravo, Walker, Kompany, Otamendi, Stones, Mangala, Delph, Danilo, Zinchenko, Toure, Gundogan, Fernandinho, B Silva, Sane, Sterling, Aguero.

WATFORD: Captain Troy Deeney serves the last installment of a four-match suspension following his red card against Huddersfield before Christmas. Kiko Femenia, Will Hughes (both hamstring), Younes Kaboul (foot), Miguel Britos (ankle), Craig Cathcart, Nathaniel Chalobah and Isaac Success (all knee) are all still out injured.
Provisional squad: Gomes, Zeegelaar, Wague, Janmaat, Kabasele, Cleverley, Doucoure, Watson, Pereyra, Richarlison, Carrillo, Karnezis, Prodl, Holebas, Capoue, Sinclair, Gray, Okaka.

WEDNESDAY'S GAME

ARSENAL VS. CHELSEA

ARSENAL: Arsenal duo Mesut Ozil and Laurent Koscielny have an outside chance of returning from injury to face Chelsea on Wednesday. Koscielny's likelihood of playing is rated at 30 percent by Arsene Wenger while Ozil is close to recovering from a knee problem and will be assessed.

Sead Kolasinac, however, will be out for two weeks after taking a knock to his ankle against West Brom on Sunday. Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud (both hamstring) and Nacho Monreal (ankle) all remain sidelined.

Provisional squad: Cech, Ospina, Mertesacker, Holding, Mustafi, Koscielny, Chambers, Debuchy, Bellerin, Nelson, Maitland-Niles, Coquelin, Wilshere, Xhaka, Elneny, Ozil, Iwobi, Sanchez, Welbeck, Walcott, Lacazette.

CHELSEA: Chelsea have no fresh injury problems for Wednesday's Premier League trip to Arsenal. Defender David Luiz (knee) and forward Charly Musonda (groin) remain out. Both have returned to training and could feature in Saturday's FA Cup trip to Norwich.

Provisional squad: Courtois, Caballero, Rudiger, Alonso, Fabregas, Drinkwater, Kante, Hazard, Morata, Pedro, Bakayoko, Moses, Kenedy, Zappacosta, Willian, Batshuayi, Cahill, Christensen, Azpilicueta, Clarke-Salter, Sterling, Eduardo, Ampadu, Hudson-Odoi.
