Javier Mascherano has agreed a contract extension with Barcelona, the Liga club have confirmed.
Mascherano will ink a deal that ties him to the Camp Nou until 2018, after agreeing an improved four-year contract.
The terms, which include a 100 million euro release clause, also have the option of a further one-year extension.
Mascherano, 29, signed for Barcelona from Liverpool in 2010 and has since lifted two league titles and the Champions League with the club.
The Argentina international, currently preparing for the 2014 World Cup, has often been used in the centre-back role, despite playing in defensive midfield for Liverpool.
