Raheem Sterling misses Liverpool training again - sources

Raheem Sterling has missed Liverpool training for a second consecutive day after telling the club that he is still ill, sources have told ESPN FC.

Sterling, 20, was absent on Wednesday, citing poor health, but had been expected to return on Thursday.

However, the winger has stayed at home in Southport, contacting the Reds to say that he is unable to come in.

Neither the club nor the England international have made any comment regarding his absence, although it is standard Liverpool practice for any ill player to be assessed by their medical team.

Sterling's continued absence from the Reds' Melwood training ground has come at a time when he is under intense scrutiny.

He has made clear that he wants to leave for Manchester City, and told manager Brendan Rodgers earlier this week that he wishes to miss Liverpool's preseason tour of the Far East and Australia.
