Dortmund dismiss Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang links to Man City

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has angrily dismissed renewed speculation linking Manchester City with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Aubameyang has previously confirmed that City contacted him in the summer after a season in which he scored 39 goals in 49 matches, and the 27-year-old has continued his fine form with 10 in 11 games in the current campaign.

The Gabon international, who has regularly expressed a desire to one day play for Real Madrid, is under contract at the Westfalenstadion until 2020 but Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said last week that the club would be open an offer for the attacker if the price was right.

Watzke's comment prompted renewed speculation in the English media that City could yet sign the player, with the Sunday Express reporting that "there has been further contact between both parties within the last couple of weeks."

However, when asked about the City links by German tabloid Bild, Zorc said: "I don't want to react to this bulls--- anymore."

Bild added that Dortmund currently value the forward at €80 million, rather than the €65m as reported by the Express.

Meanwhile, Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has backed Aubameyang to become one of the best forwards on the continent.

"Aubameyang has a very good technique and he is still improving," the Uruguay international told kicker. "He will be among the best players in Europe in a few years."

Aubameyang was named on a 30-man Ballon d'Or longlist by French magazine France Football on Monday.
