Emmanuel Adebayor closing in on West Ham loan from Spurs - sources

West Ham United are confident of securing a loan move for out-of-favour Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor before the transfer window closes, sources have told ESPN FC.

West Ham have held a long-term interest in Adebayor having seen a late move for the striker in the January transfer window blocked by Tottenham.

Adebayor has been deemed surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane with coach Mauricio Pochettino not including him in his first-team plans.

The 31-year-old came was close to joining Aston Villa earlier this summer, but the deal fell through over the player's reluctance to leave his London home.

That has left the door open for West Ham to land Adebayor, with the Togo international open to a move to Upton Park.

West Ham are scouring the transfer market in search of striking reinforcements as Enner Valencia, Andy Carroll and Mauro Zarate are all currently on the sidelines, while the club sold forward Modibo Maiga set to join Al Nassr FC.

The Hammers have lined up a deal for AC Milan and Italy forward Alessandro Matri on loan and it seems that will have no bearing on their move for Adebayor as they ready to bring in both players on a temporary basis.

Talks with Adebayor are at an advanced stage and West Ham are hopeful of completing the move before next Tuesday's transfer deadline.
