Zinedine Zidane will 'return to coaching soon' amid Manchester United links

Zinedine Zidane, who has been heavily linked to a move to Manchester United as Jose Mourinho's replacement, said he expects to be back in charge of a club in the near future.

Zidane left Real Madrid in May after winning a third consecutive Champions League title, and Mourinho has been engaged in disputes with the club hierarchy over transfers.

"Surely I am going to return to coaching soon, because I like it and [football] is what I have done my whole life," Zidane told RTVE as he watched his son Elyaz playing for Madrid's youth team.

Zidane, 46, had also been considered a candidate to replace former international teammate Didier Deschamps as France's coach, but Deschamps appears secure in his job after winning the World Cup.

That means Zidane will likely return to club football, and the success he had at Madrid means the former France captain should be able to choose his next job.

"Zidane can go where he wants," former teammate Claude Makelele told L'Equipe. "He's won three successive Champions Leagues. No one in history has done that. He has the opportunity to rest a little, but I know he'll return because he loves football."
