Porto mutually part ways with manager Nuno Espirito Santo

Porto have mutually parted ways with manager Nuno Espirito Santo, the club announced on Monday.

The former Valencia boss completed one year of the two-year contract he signed with the club last summer.

"Porto FC and Nuno Espirito Santo arrived this afternoon at an understanding to rescind the contract of the manager by mutual consent," a brief club statement read.

Porto are 27-time league champions but finished the season second-placed behind rivals Benfica, who lifted their third straight crown.

Nuno, a former goalkeeper at the club, took over for Jose Peseiro in June.

Porto reached the round-of-16 in this season's Champions League before being knocked out by eventual finalist Juventus.
