Victor Valdes not signing for Sevilla from Manchester United - Jose Castro

Sevilla have no intention of signing Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes, according to club president Jose Castro.

Valdes, 33, has made just two appearances for United since joining the side on a free transfer last summer.

The former Barcelona player is not in manager Louis van Gaal's plans, with the Dutchman having restored David De Gea as his No. 1 while he also has Sergio Romero and Sam Johnstone at his disposal.

Last week, sources told ESPN FC that United are considering cancelling Valdes' contract but only if he joins a club outside the Premier League.

A move to La Liga side Seville, though, is not on the cards for the Spain international, whose situation has been monitored by Chelsea and Liverpool.

"Valdes is not an option," he said at an event organised by Europapress.

Castro added he was happy with current No. 1 Sergio Rico, 22, and had no intention of bringing in a new keeper.
