Gareth Bale insulted by Real Madrid fans after Champions League exit

Gareth Bale faced insults from Real Madrid supporters as he left the Bernabeu after the club exited the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Bale missed a string of second-half chances in the 1-1 draw with Juventus, which saw the Italian champions advance to the final with a 3-2 aggregate win.

The Wales international had been whistled by the crowd during the match and was then insulted as he left the car park.

The 25-year-old, who had seen his car kicked and punched by Madrid fans after the team's 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in March, defended his form after Wednesday's game.

He told Sky Sports: "There have been some ups and downs but personally I think I've played well. I've maybe not scored as many important chances as I'd like but my general play has been good. My finishing is not as good and that's something to work on for next year.

"What doesn't kill me makes me stronger and I'll learn from this season and take it on."

Bale has been linked with a return to the Premier League this summer, with Manchester United and Chelsea both linked, but his agent recently said the player wants to stay at the Bernabeu.
