Carlo Ancelotti says Real Madrid do not need January reinforcements

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has said he does not need any reinforcements in the January transfer window.

Although speculation has linked the Champions League winners with a 15 million-euro move for Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva, Ancelotti is content with the resources he has got.

Regular reports in Spain and Brazil have said the Bernabeu club could move for holding midfielder Silva in January.

However, Ancelotti told a news conference: "I am happy with the squad I have.

"[Sami] Khedira had bad luck because he had a small problem [he suffered concussion against Cornella], but Jese [Rodriguez] has recovered [after nine months out with a knee injury]. We do not need anybody in January."

Asier Illarramendi is set to make only his fifth start of the season in Saturday's home game against Celta Vigo, as Ancelotti said Real would not be taking action to fight the red card picked up by Isco during the 2-1 win at Malaga.

"We have not appealed, so [Isco] will not be there," he said. "Illarramendi will replace him. Maybe the referee made a mistake, but it will not affect the [Celta] game because I have confidence in Illarramendi."

The coach said Karim Benzema's excellent form was making it different for Javier Hernandez to get much playing time, but that the on-loan Manchester United attacker would start Tuesday's Champions League group game at home to Ludogorets.

"[Benzema] is in very good form," he added. "He is enjoying playing with his teammates and they are enjoying playing with him.

"Hernandez knows his position in the team. We have forwards who are playing very well. He will play against Ludogorets. He will not leave in January."

And Ancelotti praised opponents Celta, saying: "Their results speak for themselves. They have won at the Camp Nou and drawn with Atletico Madrid.

"They are a competitive and aggressive team. We need to play as we have been doing in recent games."

Another win would extend Madrid's club record run of wins to 17, and Ancelotti said he believed more was to come from his players.

"It is difficult for the team to improve on what it is doing, but I believe it can," he said. "You should not put limits on the improvement."
