Zlatan Ibrahimovic could miss Man United's China tour - reports

New Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic could miss the club's preseason tour of China this week, according to multiple reports.

The BBC, Times and Guardian all report that Jose Mourinho may allow Ibrahimovic, 34, to sit out the trip despite having already had the minimum three-week rest period after Euro 2016, as required by FIFA.

United face Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai on July 22 and Manchester City in Beijing on July 25 but Mourinho is reportedly planning to allow the former Paris Saint-Germain star the opportunity for further rest ahead of the new season.

Ibrahimovic, who retired from international football after Sweden exited Euro 2016 at the group stage, remains on holiday but posted a video on social media this week showing him maintaining his fitness on a treadmill.

As a result, it is unclear when Ibrahimovic will make his debut, with the prospect that it will come in the friendly with Galatasaray in the Swedish city of Gothenburg on July 30.

United's reserves are also facing National League North club Salford City -- co-owned by Red Devils legends including Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs -- on July 26.

The club's other two new signings this summer, Ivory Coast centre-back Eric Bailly and Armenia midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, trained for the first time on Wednesday and the Guardian reports that they are set to travel with the squad for the China tour.

Luke Shaw, who missed much of last season with a double leg break, also took part in Wednesday's session.

England trio Wayne Rooney, Chris Smalling and Marcus Rashford will travel to China after their Euro 2016 campaign finished at the round-of-16 stage on June 27 but Mourinho has said they will not play.
