Ryan Giggs should stay at Manchester United with Jose Mourinho - Pearce

Ryan Giggs should not leave Manchester United to become manager of a team at Nottingham Forest's level, according to former Forest captain and manager Stuart Pearce.

United assistant manager Giggs is yet to announce a decision on his next move, having been overlooked in favour of Jose Mourinho for the main job at Old Trafford.

And Pearce, who made 401 league appearances for Forest, has urged Giggs to talk things through with Mourinho before leaving Manchester.

"If I was advising Ryan I would probably tell him to stay in the world of Mourinho for two years," Pearce told Here Is The City. "I wouldn't be in any rush to take a manager's job. I would soak up the experience of Mourinho.

"It's a volatile profession at the moment. Probably the best advice he'd ever get is from someone like Alex Ferguson. He will probably tell him exactly the same -- get as experienced as you can and then a job will be out there for you."

Mourinho has had Rui Faria alongside him as assistant manager at Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, but Faria is yet to be appointed at United.

Giggs has been United's assistant manager for a year under David Moyes and for two seasons under Louis van Gaal, but the Dutchman's departure has thrown his future at the club into doubt.

"Only a conversation between Ryan and Jose will sort that situation out," Pearce said. "If Ryan gets the inclination that he's not wanted there, he's a big enough man. He'll move on and he'll look for work elsewhere, whether that's a manager's job or a coaching role."
