Sadio Mane's house burgled while playing for Liverpool vs. Bayern in Champions League

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane had his house burgled while he was playing in a Champions League round-of-16 first-leg match against Bayern Munich at Anfield on Tuesday.

"Merseyside Police is investigating after a burglary at a home Allerton, south Liverpool last night," a spokesperson for Merseyside police said on Tuesday. "Patrols were called to reports that at some time between 6 p.m. and 11.45 p.m., unknown offenders had forced entry to a property in the area.

"A search of the house established they had taken a number of items including watches, mobile phones and car keys. Forensic examinations are being carried out and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing."

Meanwhile, Detective Inspector Phil Mahon, said: "We are appealing for anyone with information in relation to this burglary to please come forward and assist our inquiries.

"While the occupants were not present at the time of the incident this will no doubt be a distressing experience for them and I would ask the offenders to do the right thing and return the stolen items to the owner in any way possible.

"We know the watches in particular are of significant monetary value and I would also like to appeal to anyone who might have been offered the items for sale since the burglary to contact police."

It was not the first time Mane's house had been targeted since he moved to Liverpool, with the 26-year-old also burgled during a home Champions League game against Slovenian side Maribor in November 2017.

Liverpool and German champions Bayern drew 0-0, with the return leg to take place on March 13.
