Jose Mourinho invites Schurrle to join Chelsea title-winning celebrations

Andre Schurrle says that he has been invited to join Chelsea's Premier League title celebrations at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

Schurrle, 24, left Chelsea on the final day of the January transfer window and signed for Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in one of the biggest transfers in Germany. The club reportedly splashed out around €32 million on the winger, but as he was a part of Chelsea's title winners earlier this season, he will be returning to the club to join the party.

"Jose Mourinho sent me a text to say that I'd get a medal and he asked me to come to the last game. That was very nice for me," the Germany international told the BBC. "I didn't know that I'd get a medal when I didn't play most of the second half of the season."

Schurrle played in 14 matches for Mourinho's side and, although most came off the bench, the club have nominated him to get a medal.

However, having chosen to return to the Bundesliga after only 18 months in Premier League, Schurrle does not feel he contributed much to the Premier League title.

"I'm really happy for the boys," he added. "They played a very good second half of the season so of course, for me, it's good to get a medal but the boys did the work."

The World Cup winner has scored one goal, and set up a further three, in 12 games at his new club, while he could yet win a second title this season, with Wolfsburg playing the DfB Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund in late May.
