Arda Turan unsure about Barcelona loan amid transfer ban

Arda Turan has said it will be "hard" not playing for six months following his transfer from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona.

Barca announced on Monday the signing of Turan, 28, for an initial fee of €34 million (£24.1 million).

The former Galatasaray player will not be able to play an official game for Barcelona until January 2016 due to a transfer ban imposed by FIFA for breaching rules over the signings of under-age players.

Reports in the Spanish media have claimed Turan could be sent out on a six-month loan deal to another club.

"It will be hard not to play for six months," the Turkey international said at a news conference. "To go out on loan for six months? I have no idea.

"The only thing I want is to adapt to the team as soon as possible."

There is a clause in Turan's transfer which allows the incoming president to reverse the operation.

Barca have until July 20 to sell the player back to Atletico Madrid "for the fixed fee less 10 percent option costs."

When asked if he was worried by the clause that could see him return to Atletico, Turan said: "I'm here to give my best for Barca, the rest I leave to one side."

Turan added that he has fulfilled a boyhood dream by signing for Liga champions Barca.

He said: "I've had many offers but when I got the one from Barca, I put the others to the side. I was keen to sign this contract quickly because it's a dream for me.

"Everyone who knows me, knows that ever since I was a boy, I always aspired to play for Barcelona.

"I would first like to thank all the people of Atletico Madrid because if I'm here, it is also partly down to their work.

"I am here at the best club in the world, one of the best clubs any player could aspire to join. I am delighted. I believe here we will see the best Arda.

"[Barca coach] Luis Enrique really wanted me and that makes me very happy. I'm going to do everything to repay that trust."

Luis Enrique was keen to sign Turan following the departure of veteran captain Xavi Hernandez to Qatari club Al Sadd.

Turan said: "No one can replace Xavi because he is one of a kind. And not just for Barca, but he is an icon of world football. I am here to give all that I have but at no time to compare myself with Xavi. Xavi will always be a symbol of Barca.

"I really hope I can play alongside [Andres] Iniesta, [Lionel] Messi, Neymar and [Luis] Suarez. When I was at Atletico I said that Messi is the best. "But my idol is Iniesta.

"Iniesta sent me a message after I signed and I was really touched."
