Manchester City 'have our own style' under Pep Guardiola - David Silva

MANCHESTER, England -- David Silva believes that Pep Guardiola is developing a new way of playing at Manchester City that will bring success in the Premier League.

City made it three wins out of three on Sunday with a 3-1 victory over West Ham to move ahead of Chelsea and Manchester United on goal difference going into the international break.

Guardiola's side were scintillating at times, pulling apart the Hammers defence in the first half with Silva at the centre of City's sharp play.

But the Spanish midfielder believes City are shaping a whole new system rather than simply copying the styles that Guardiola honed at previous clubs Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

"We have our own style," the 30-year-old told reporters. "We have good players who like to have the ball, and we also have fast players so we can play on the counter.

"I think we're improving every day and that's good for the team. We won and I'm very happy. I'm fine, I feel good. The team is improving every game, we're showing that on the pitch.

"We created a lot of goal-scoring opportunities and we hope to keep improving."

City now have a two-week break from the Premier League before they return to action with the Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

But striker Sergio Aguero could potentially miss that game if he is given a retrospective punishment for a stray elbow on Winston Reid in the victory over West Ham.

United have also won their first three games of the season and Silva knows it won't be easy going to a side who many see as City's main rivals for the Premier League title, with or without Aguero.

"It's always going to be a difficult and important game, but we hope to win," he added.

"We know it's a difficult place to go but now we're thinking about our national teams, which come before, and then we'll think about and work towards the derby."
