Round-up: Chicken Inn halt Dynamos, Rhinos reclaim top spot

Zimbabwe Premier League giants Dynamos were unable to prolong their winning streak after being held to a goalless draw by 10-men Chicken Inn on Sunday.

Dynamos have traditionally struggled against Chicken Inn and things never looked like taking a different turn at Barbourfields, even after the hosts were reduced to 10-men following the expulsion of midfielder George Majika for rough play on 56 minutes.

The red-hot Dynamos trio of Denver Mukamba, Emmanuel Mandiranga and Cameroonian import Christian Epoupa just could not get into their grove and in the end, stand in coach Biggie Zuze would have been relieved to avoid outright defeat.

Black Rhinos ended a run of three winless matches with an emphatic 3-0 win at home to Tsholotsho to reclaim top spot in the standings.

Stix Mtizwa's troops, who had drawn two and lost once in their last three, surged ahead through a Martin Mine strike just after the hour-mark. Salman Yamikani and Lot Chiunga netted late in the second-half to add some gloss to the score-line.

The win brought Chipembere's points tally to 31 after 16 matches, one more than second-placed Ngezi Platinum, who were stunned 1-0 at Triangle.

The miners had gone into matchday 17 at the top of the log standings only to endure a frustrating afternoon which ended in a fourth defeat of the campaign.

Simba Makoni intercepted a poor back pass by Dominic Mukandi before sprinting past Ngezi goalkeeper Nelson Chadya to score the only goal of the encounter just before the quarter-hour mark.

A first-half injury to playmaker Donald Teguru did little to help Ngezi, who have now won only once in their last five matches.

Never Tigere scored early in the second-half as ZPC Kariba beat Hwange 1-0 at the Colliery.

The Mashonaland West outfit had gone into Sunday's encounter in the midst of a woeful run of one win in eight matches, slipping to eighth place in the standings.

The result left Hwange fourth from bottom with a mere 14 points from 16 matches.
