Tinashe Makanda scored a brace as How Mine beat Shabanie Mine 3-1 to set a Chibuku Super Cup final date against Harare City, who had accounted for Bulawayo City 1-0 in the other semi final played earlier on Sunday.
A final between How Mine and Harare City has the potential to thrill fans and could at least placate some neutrals who had been disappointed at the exit of virtually all of the league's big guns in earlier rounds.
How Mine forward Kuda Musharu punished a hesitant Shabanie defence with the opener in the first minute as Kevin Kaindu's team exhibited some exciting attacking football against opponents who struggled to live up to their newfound status as the league's giant killers.
And any hopes of a second-half revival by Shabanie were ruthlessly dashed as 23-year-old Makanda netted twice inside ten minutes to put the contest to bed.
Bruno Mtigo then scored Shabanie's consolation on the stroke of full time as How Mine proceeded to the final to meet Harare City, for whom Martin Vengesai's first-half strike was enough to see off Bulawayo City.
Although Harare City have struggled to stay clear of the relegation zone this term, they still possess a decent squad capable of producing some exciting football, and fans can look ahead to a competitive final despite the absence of the league's traditional big teams.
Harare City dominated the first-half on Sunday before taking the foot off the pedal a little after the break, although they never looked in danger of surrendering their lead.
