Dynamos face Rhinos test amidst relegation fears

Zimbabwe Premier League giants Dynamos will look to steer clear of the relegation places with victory over Black Rhinos at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

The former champions lifted some of the gloom enveloping their camp with a 2-1 win over derby rivals CAPS United last Sunday, a result which saw them crawl out of the relegation zone, but they remain perilously close to trouble and any setback against Rhinos could see Dembare back in the red.

Dynamos scrap through to Chibuku Super Cup semis

Dynamos scraped through to the Chibuku Super Cup semi-finals after a 4-3 penalty shootout triumph over a battling Herentals on Sunday.

The match had ended 1-1 in normal time, with Herentals marksman Blessing Majarira netting from the spot just after the half-hour mark to cancel out Quality Kangadze's opener moments earlier.

Goalkeeper Simbarashe Chinyani then saved two penalties as Dynamos progressed to the last four alongside Triangle, who hammered Nichrut 5-1 in the other quarter-final match...

Leaders Platinum down Dynamos, Ngezi falter

In-form midfielder Rodwell Chinyengetere scored his 14th goal of the season to power FC Platinum to a vital 2-0 win over Dynamos to send them five points clear at the summit going into the last five matches of the campaign.

The victory marked an impressive recovery from Norman Mapeza's team, who only on Wednesday had lost 3-1 at fourth-placed Triangle to see their lead over second-placed Ngezi cut to two.

As has often happened over the last few weeks however, it was a reversal of fortunes between...

Chibuku Cup: CAPS, Dynamos & Highlanders advance

It was a productive weekend for Zimbabwe's beleaguered traditional giants, with all three of CAPS United, Highlanders and Dynamos progressing to the quarter-finals of the Chibuku Super Cup.

There was, however, no joy for title rivals Ngezi and FC Platinum, who were both dumped out of the tournament by Herentals and Chapungu respectively. Triangle, Harare City and Nichrut complete the last eight cast.

CAPS needed a penalty shootout to see off the spirited challenge of ZPC Kariba on Sunday, 24 hours...

FC Platinum stretch Zimbabwe Premier League lead

Reigning footballer of the year Rodwell Chinyengetere scored a memorable second-half brace as champions FC Platinum shook off their midweek blues to beat Herentals 2-0 and open up a five-point lead at the top of the Zimbabwe Premier League.

Platinum's win came just as inconsistency returned to hold back title rivals Ngezi Platinum, who were stunned 1-0 at Yadah to see their dream of a maiden league title begin to fall apart.

Saturday's results represented a reversal of roles in a way after Platinum...
