FC Platinum climbed to the summit of the log standings for the first time this season after a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Dynamos on matchday 18 in the Zimbabwe Premier League on Wednesday.

Dynamos had gone into the high profile encounter as favourites and looked headed for another fruitful afternoon early on, with striker Tawanda Macheka putting them ahead on eight minutes.

The Harare giants however could not add to their lead, allowing Platinum to regroup and draw level as left-back Kelvin Moyo headed home just after the half-hour mark.

The match then exploded in the final five minutes with Rodwell Chinyengetere and former Dynamos midfielder Brett Amidu scoring to hand Platinum a third win in four matches.

On the other hand it was a deflating result for Dynamos, who were looking to keep up their title charge after going for eight matches without defeat.

The win lifted Norman Mapeza's side into first place with 32 points, same as second-placed Chicken Inn and How Mine in third.

While Platinum and Chicken Inn are also tied on goal difference, the former are on top by virtue of having scored more goals.

Meanwhile, former TP Mazembe forward Darryl Nyandoro's 63rd minute header proved the difference as Chicken Inn beat Bantu Rovers 1-0 in Bulawayo.

The 2015 champions desperately needed all three points to arrest an indifferent run but there was no joy for them in a tight first-half where relegation haunted Bantu showed excellent defensive organisation.

The second-half introduction of Nyandoro however proved decisive, and the veteran attacker was in the right place at the right moment to head home a cross from left-back Devine Lunga.

In Harare, the woes continued to mount for defending champions CAPS United, who could only manage a goalless draw at home to Shabanie Mine.

The result left CAPS stranded third from bottom with just three wins in 11 matches. Lloyd Chitembwe's troops have registered one win in their last five league matches.

How Mine remained in third-place in the standings despite a goalless draw at home to Sunday Chidzambwa's ZPC Kariba.

Kevin Kaindu had to do without the services of Praise Tonha and Milton Ncube, who failed to report for training after featuring in Zimbabwe's clash against Namibia on Sunday.

At Morris Depot, resurgent midfielder Wellington Kamudyariwa was on target just before the break to power Yadah to a 1-0 win over Harare City.

New signing Rodrick Mutuma made his debut for Yadah and created the goal for Kamudyariwa, who is beginning to reproduce his best form after joining in from Platinum at the start of the season.
