Yadah FC stun log leaders Ngezi Platinum

Brian Chakwenya scored with brilliant free kick as Yadah FC stunned log leaders Ngezi Platinum 1-0 on matchday 4 in the Zimbabwe Premier League.

Ngezi had won their first three matches of the new campaign to ease to the top of the standings and were widely expected to prolong that fine run against the top-flight debutants.

Yadah however looked anything but overawed as they matched the Mhondoro-based side in all departments, never looking back after taking a 13th minute lead through Chakwenya.

The victory allowed Yadah to climb into second-place, a point behind Ngezi, who will retain their position at the top at least until the midweek fixtures.

FC Platinum were the only other side to go into the weekend matches boasting a 100% record, only to slump to a 1-1 draw away to Bulawayo City.

Norman Mapeza's team took a second minute lead through of forward Charles Sibanda, but they were made to pay for a series of missed chances as City returned from the break a rejuvenated side with Mkhululi Moyo scoring the equaliser.

In another Saturday fixture, How Mine needed to come from behind to beat Chapungu 2-1 at Luveve Stadium.

Ageless forward Phillip Marufu thrust the airmen into the lead at the stroke of half-time as How Mine's under-fire coach Kevin Kaindu looked headed for another forgettable afternoon.

But two second-half goals from Kuda Musharu and Pascal Manhanga rescued the cause for the gold miners, who had failed to register a win in their first three matches of the campaign.
