RB Leipzig's Ralf Rangnick unlikely to take England job - Ralph Hasenhuttl

Ralf Rangnick has been tipped to remain as RB Leipzig sporting director amid reports the Football Association is ready to speak to him about succeeding Sam Allardyce as England manager.

Rangnick, 58, was linked with the vacant England job by the Daily Telegraph on Thursday, and, according to multiple reports in the German media the Leipzig chief is not willing to leave his post at the newly promoted Bundesliga club.

"It would be a real shame, but I can't imagine it," RB Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuttl told reporters about the rumours linking his boss to the England job. "I did not talk to him about it, but I can confirm he can speak English very well."

However, it is unlikely that Rangnick, who was interviewed by both the FA and the Belgium FA following the 2016 European Championship, will test his English in the near future.

According to a report in kicker there has been no contact between the FA and Rangnick following Sam Allardyce's departure earlier this week and the Leipzig chief is also not willing to leave the Bundesliga club.

Kicker's report was backed by local paper Leipziger Volkszeitung, which claimed that "currently there is no contact between Ralf Rangnick and the FA, who are again looking for a coach," and added that "Rangnick will remain Leipzig sporting director until further notice."

Rangnick has coached a number of Bundesliga clubs including Schalke and VfB Stuttgart. He has also supervised the rise of Hoffenheim in the late noughties and last season won promotion to Bundesliga with Leipzig as the club's coach and sporting director.
