U.S.'s World Cup qualifier in Trinidad set for 10,000-seat stadium

The Outside The Lines crew delve deeper into how Alexi Lalas' comments, if at all, will play into the U.S.'s mentality.
Max Bretos and Herculez Gomez use their weekly podcast to discuss Alexi Lalas' polarizing rant about the USMNT's struggles.

If the United States is going to qualify for the World Cup in October, it will have to do it at the 10,000-seat Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad, which was recently designated as the country's new "home of football."

The small venue has been confirmed as the site by FIFA, rather than Trinidad and Tobago's usual 27,000-capacity Hasely Crawford Stadium in the capital of Port-of-Spain, which currently has a problem with its lighting system, according to the country's federation.

Alexi Lalas blasts U.S. national team's 'soft, tattooed millionaires' in tirade

Max Bretos and Herculez Gomez use their weekly podcast to discuss Alexi Lalas' polarizing rant about the USMNT's struggles.

Former U.S. defender Alexi Lalas blasted the national team amid its current struggles to qualify for the World Cup, calling the players "underperforming, tattooed millionaires."

After losing to Costa Rica and drawing in Honduras this month, the U.S. team will have its qualification hopes go down to the final day of CONCACAF qualifying. If the side cannot improve on its current fourth-place standing, it could move on to an intercontinental playoff against Australia or Syria in November.

And Lalas,...

U.S striker Jordan Morris strains hamstring with Seattle Sounders

Super-sub Lamar Neagle's late equalizer and Roman Torres' questionable red card closed out L.A. and Seattle's 1-1 draw.
USMNT forwards Bobby Wood and Jordan Morris sound off on their gritty 1-1 draw in Honduras, and the team's mentality under duress.

U.S. striker Jordan Morris suffered a strained hamstring in the Seattle Sounders' 1-1 draw with the LA Galaxy on Sunday night.

The injury puts in doubt Morris' status for the national team's World Cup qualifiers against Panama and Trinidad and Tobago in October.

Morris, 22, pulled up near the hour mark after running after the ball and was replaced by Will Bruin.

Sounders coach Brian Schmetzer said his young striker will be further examined by his father, Michael Morris, the Sounders' chief...

Draw with Costa Rica leaves Mexico 'with a bad taste' - Osorio

J Dos Santos vs Costa Rica 170905
Juan Carlos Osorio looks on during Mexico's 1-1 draw with Costa Rica in World Cup qualifying.

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica -- Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio said the 1-1 tie against Costa Rica in Estadio Nacional on Tuesday was a fair result, but lamented his team's inability to hold onto the lead in the World Cup qualifying game.

Mexico went ahead in the 42nd minute when Cristian Gamboa inadvertently put the ball into his own net after an amazing Keylor Navas save, but Marcos Urena equalized with eight minutes to go to rescue a point for Los Ticos, who went close to winning with seconds left when...
