Blackburn Rovers have signed David Jones from Wigan Athletic on an emergency loan until the end of the 2012-13 campaign.

Jones, 28, started his footballing career with Manchester United but moved to the DW on a free transfer at the end of the 2010-11 season.

"I'm delighted to be here, Blackburn is a massive club," said Jones. "I want to come here and make an impact so I'm really looking forward to it.

"I thought my opportunities would be limited at Wigan for the remainder of the season and this chance arose so I wanted to take it.

"It is a good team and one that I want to try and get in and do well. It has been doing well recently, there are a lot of quality players the football club and hopefully there'll be opportunities for me to come in and help the football club achieve their aim this season."
