West Ham's Javier Hernandez to miss Man United game through injury

West Ham United will be without Javier Hernandez when former club Manchester United visit the London Stadium on Thursday.

Hernandez has yet to recover from the knee injury that kept him out of Saturday's victory at Leicester City.

He played for United from 2010-14 before a loan at Real Madrid, a move to Bayer Leverkusen and joining West Ham last summer.

Thursday's game would not be his first against his former club as West Ham opened the season at Old Trafford on Aug. 13.

Meanwhile, David Moyes said he has no intention of opening contract talks with West Ham United early despite the club being safe from relegation.

Moyes, who replaced Slaven Bilic in November with West Ham in the bottom three, has kept them up with two games remaining.

The West Ham hierarchy have made no indications as to whether they want Moyes to stay --- he signed a contract through the end of the season -- and he also has a decision to make.

"We have always said we will talk after the end of the season so we will wait until then," Moyes said. "It's always the way I wanted it and I won't change my views until we get the last two games out of the way."

Moyes said there is no reason to begin contract negotiations early in spite of recent results.

"We are putting things in place, like preseason, as much as we can, but ultimately I have got a decision to make and the club has as well," Moyes said.
