West Ham captain Mark Noble told Michail Antonio to 'go and be a hero'

West Ham United captain Mark Noble said he told match-winner Michail Antonio to "go and be a hero'' moments before he got the decisive goal in a 1-0 win over Bournemouth.

Antonio headed the decisive goal with time running out to ensure the injury-hit Hammers won the Premier League game at their new London Stadium home.

"It's a great feeling,'' Noble said.

"When you move into a new stadium you're not going to get wins just because you've moved in here.

"The big man at the end popped up, and I did say to him two minutes before the end: 'Go and be a hero' -- and he was one."

Antonio said: "He [Noble] actually did say that -- he said: 'Go to the far stick and be a hero.

"It's just one of those things, I'm always going to try and get to the back stick. It was an amazing game and a great feeling.

"It's good to be back on the scoresheet -- the first ever [Premier League] goal here.''

Antonio's winner came less than a week after he was substituted immediately after giving away a penalty in the Hammers' opening 2-1 defeat at Chelsea.

"It's one of those things. You can't let that stuff affect you," he said.

"You have to forget about it, it's in the past and you have to move on and I did and managed to get a winner.

"You always get another chance, and it's whether you take it."
