West Ham striker Andy Carroll faces several weeks out with knee injury

West Ham striker Andy Carroll faces yet another spell on the sidelines after it was confirmed that he has suffered another knee injury.

Carroll, 27, sustained the injury during the Europa League playoff draw at Astra Giurgiu on Thursday.

West Ham have yet to put an official timeframe on his recovery but estimate that he will be out of action for four to six weeks.

The news comes as another blow to Carroll, who has spent around half his four-year spell with the Hammers out injured.

He tweeted on Sunday that he was "devastated" about the injury "but I'm still the 15-20 goal man! #COYI"

Carroll missed Sunday's Premier League meeting with Bournemouth, and will also sit out the return leg against Astra and next week's Premier League game at Man City.

The only positive is that the injury coincides with the first international break of the season.

But the striker is still likely to miss league games against Watford and West Brom and the start of the club's Europa League group stage campaign, should they qualify.

Carroll's latest setback also adds to a growing casualty list for manager Slaven Bilic, who this week lost club-record signing Andre Ayew for four months to a thigh injury.

Star midfielder Dimitri Payet is still not fit following his exertions at Euro 2016 while Aaron Cresswell, Sofiane Feghouli and Manuel Lanzini are out injured.
