West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian has signed a new two-year contract, the club have announced.

The deal, which includes an option to extend for a further two years, keeps the 28-year-old at the east London club until at least 2017.

Spaniard Adrian moved to the London club from Real Betis in 2013, and captured the headlines when he took and scored the penalty that beat Everton in an FA Cup shootout last season.

He told the official West Ham website: "This is a proud moment for myself, my family and friends, and I am really happy to have signed my second contract with the club.

"I spent 16 years at Real Betis, and it was difficult to leave your home. But from the moment I arrived in London, the West Ham fans had a special relationship with me.

"For me this is a really good moment and I just want to enjoy it. This is my third season here, and I want to stay for a long time."

Adrian said he was looking forward to playing at the Olympic Stadium, West Ham's new home from next season.

He explained: "Next season is really important for the club. I have enjoyed playing at Upton Park, and I want to enjoy playing in the new stadium. It is a big step for the club and I am really excited about this moment."
