Ajax head coach Frank de Boer has been sounded out about the possibility of taking over as West Ham manager, sources have told ESPN.
De Boer was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham last summer before they appointed Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino.
ESPN sources have been told that De Boer is in no rush to leave Ajax, after leading the club to three Dutch title successes in the last four seasons. And earlier this month, his agent said he would be going nowhere this summer.
However, De Boer is keen to explore he possibility of working in the Premier League, amid suggestions that Newcastle may also make an approach for his services ahead of the 2015-16 season.
De Boer's contacts in the game and his status as proven winner on the touchline would be attractive to West Ham co-chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold, who are keen to hire a coach that will promote an attractive brand of football following four years under the guidance of Sam Allardyce.
The Hammers are looking for a new coach after the mutual decision to part ways with Allardyce following the final game of the Premier League season a week ago, with former Hammers defender Slaven Bilic and Real Sociedad boss David Moyes also being linked with the post.
The West Ham job appears to be especially attractive as the club are preparing to move to the Olympic Stadium in 12 months' time, which will offer the Hammers the potential to increase their revenue flow and challenge clubs at the top end of the Premier League.
But the new boss faces a quick return to competitive action, as they are in the Europa League via Fairplay which means their European campaign begins on June 30 in the first qualifying round.
