Rat excited by move to West Ham

West Ham new boy Razvan Rat cannot wait to realise his dream of playing in the Premier League after sealing a move to Upton Park from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Razvan Rat has won 88 caps for Romania
Full-back Razvan Rat is the captain of the Romanian national team

Rat is sad to walk away from Shakhtar after a decade with the Ukrainian big-hitters, but the full-back admits the lure of playing in England's top flight was impossible for him to ignore.

"I am very excited because it has been my dream to play in England, so I am very happy to be here," the 31-year-old Rat told the club's official website.  "I think that the Premier League is the best championship in the world. It's an honour for me and a big pleasure to play here.

"I was at Shakhtar for ten years, so I must thank them for understanding my decision to come here. I've chosen England, I've chosen West Ham and I'm very happy for that.

"This was a big decision for me. It is very hard to move with everything - your family and everything like that - so it is true that for the moment it might not be so easy, but I know me and I know that I will adapt very soon.

"I hope that the fans will adopt me as one of their own and I'm really looking forward to being one of the team. This is the most important thing for me, above everything, the love of the fans. This is what I want at West Ham."

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has jumped out of the blocks quickly in his bid beat the transfer scramble ahead of the new season, with Rat's arrival set to be compliment by a £15 million deal to sign Liverpool striker Andy Carroll in the coming days.
