West Brom owners to quiz chief executive over slump - reports

The future of West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew is likely to be under the spotlight when chief executive Mark Jenkins holds talks with club owner Guochuan Lai in China this week, according to multiple reports.

West Brom are bottom of the Premier League table and eight points adrift of safety following a defeat at Watford that left Pardew with a record of one win in 15 league games.

Reports say Jenkins will hold discussions with Lai at which he will be asked about both this season's difficulties and business plans to deal with potential relegation to the Championship.

The loss at Watford was West Brom's sixth in a row, with his side's next game against Midlands rivals Leicester at the weekend.

Meanwhile, West Brom captain Jonny Evans has told the BBC that he and teammates Gareth Barry, Jake Livermore and Boaz Myhill "have to deal" with the aftermath of the taxi incident during the club's winter training camp in Barcelona.

Evans was stripped of the captaincy for one match after the four players, who issued an apology, admitted breaking curfew when a taxi was reported stolen.

The players were taken to a police station for questioning but were not arrested, and Evans said claimed elements of the story had been "sensationalised" in reports.

"It's important to react and be professional about it," he said. "Mistakes get made, but there was no intent to cause any harm or embarrass ourselves or the club.

"There's been a lot written about us. But, with everything, a lot of things get sensationalised.

"Sometimes things can happen that are taken out of your control. A lot of facts are left out to make the story seem all the more sensational.

"But we've all been around for a long time. Things have happened to all of us in our career in a number of moments when we know that, in the position we're in, all eyes are on us.

"You just have to deal with that and be a man about it."
