Darren Fletcher wants to add to West Bromwich's FA Cup history

James Morrison
Darren Fletcher, right, is targeting FA Cup glory with West Brom.

West Brom captain Darren Fletcher has urged Albion to create an FA Cup legacy as he eyes a second winners' medal.

The Baggies skipper also wants to extend their cup run at Peterborough on Wednesday to help address their poor Premier League form.

West Brom go to London Road for their fourth-round replay with Albion having won just twice in their last 12 league games.

Fletcher won the trophy with Manchester United in 2004 and has targeted lifting the FA Cup again with the Baggies.

He said: "Our target is to get to Wembley. At that stage anything can happen.

"The history of the competition is evident at the club. We had a day last year for Jeff Astle, which brought up a lot of FA Cup memories for the supporters. Well, let's go out there and create new memories for people that will be remembered for years to come.

"The FA Cup means a lot to me. It was the very first trophy I won. I've had the disappointment of losing two finals -- we battered Arsenal in 2005 but lost on penalties and then we played in a dull final against Chelsea where we lost by the odd goal."

Reading await the winners in the fifth round as West Brom and Peterborough do battle again on Wednesday following a 2-2 draw at The Hawthorns which saw Posh score twice in the final 11 minutes.

Saido Berahino netted both his side's goals in the first tie, his second putting Albion 2-1 ahead with six minutes left, while Shaquile Coulthirst and Jon Taylor struck to clinch a replay for the Sky Bet League One side.

Albion are likely to have just three fit defenders -- outcasts James Chester, Cristian Gamboa and Sebastien Pocognoli -- with Jonny Evans, Chris Brunt, Gareth McAuley and Jonas Olsson all struggling with injury.

Fletcher added: "This is a massive game for us. The players are desperate to stay in the cup. We know our form hasn't been great in the league but we want a big cup run."
