Salomon Rondon, Marshall on West Brom's radar as Pulis builds squad

Tony Pulis is unhappy with his West Bromwich Albion squad and wants more players -- as he chases Jose Salomon Rondon.

The boss wants new players in before the end of the transfer window and could break the Baggies' transfer record for Zenit St Petersburg striker Rondon.

Pulis confirmed he wanted to bring the 25-year-old to the Hawthorns having already signed Rickie Lambert, James Chester, Serge Gnabry and James McClean.

But, ahead of Monday's Premier League opener with Manchester City, Pulis' transfer plans are in full swing.

He said: "There's him (Rondon), there's a couple of Belgians we've had a look at and there's a French lad we're keen on. We have tested the waters and seeing which one suits us and which ones we can do.

"We're not happy, I didn't say we're not good enough but we're not happy as a football club with what we've got at the moment.

"We're trying to get more in but they have to be good players.

"It's a difficult market out there and everything you do has to be in the best interests of the football club and that's very important.

"I only want to sign players I want at the club, they have to be good players. Anyone can sign a bunch of players but you want good players who will improve the squad."

Pulis has also confirmed he wants to sign Cardiff's goalkeeper David Marshall.

The Baggies only have Boaz Myhill as a senior keeper with Ben Foster still recovering from a serious knee injury and unavailable until October.

Albion have been in talks with Cardiff over the Scotland international -- with Bluebirds boss Russell Slade admitting they may have to sell Marshall to spend.

Pulis said: "He's a good goalkeeper and a goalkeeper we would like to bring in to the football club. The two clubs have to agree and the player has got to agree, it's not as simple. We're not one of the big four or five clubs who can go out and say 'they want X amount so we're going to pay that.'

"Bo is the only senior keeper we have available so it's important we get a player in."
