Former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry is 'perfect' - Werder Bremen's Skripnik

Werder Bremen coach Viktor Skripnik has called former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry a "perfect" player.

"I am delighted he's with us," the under-pressure Werder boss said of Gnabry, who signed for the club from Arsenal in the summer.

"I hope what he showed [in the 2-1 loss to Augsburg] already was the worst he can play. I think he's capable of fulfilling everything that we expect from him. He already is perfect."

Gnabry has been  struggling with knee problems, but the 21-year-old has said he's fit to play.

"I had problems in my right knee in the final at the Olympic Games. But I feel well again. Everything's fine," the winger said.

Bremen travel to Borussia Monchengladbach at the weekend, and defeat at the Champions League club would see Werder hitting rock bottom early on in the season.

Before the start of the Bundesliga season, the club were eliminated from the DFB Pokal by third-tier side Sportfreunde Lotte, and they also lost their opening games of the domestic season to Bayern Munich and Augsburg.

"We were successful in Gladbach last season," Skripnik told Bild. "And I think my team's capable of doing it again this year."
