Wales' Euro 2016 heroes to have open-top bus parade in Cardiff

Wales fans will get the chance to welcome home Chris Coleman's Euro 2016 squad with a special event in Cardiff on Friday, which will include an open-top bus parade and a performance by Manic Street Preachers.

A 2-0 defeat by Portugal in Lyon on Wednesday brought to an end Wales' run at the championship, which saw them top Group B ahead of England before beating Northern Ireland and Belgium on their way to the semifinals.

To mark the achievements of Coleman's squad, who qualified for a first major tournament since the 1958 World Cup, the Football Association of Wales (FAW) is to open up the Cardiff City Stadium from 5 p.m. on Friday.

There will be a presentation to the players and coaching staff followed by a Question and Answer session as well as music from Welsh band Manic Street Preachers.

Ahead of the events on stage at the stadium, there will be a bus tour around the city, starting at Cardiff Castle from 4 p.m..

FAW chief executive Jonathan Ford said: "We feel this event is a great way of everyone celebrating what has been a historic period for Welsh football.

"The scenes we have seen both at home and over in France have been fantastic and we hope that our passionate supporters can enjoy another moment with the players to end a memorable few weeks."
