Nicklas Bendtner not training with Wolfsburg - Klaus Allofs

Nicklas Bendtner has been given permission not to train with his current club Wolfsburg, sporting director Klaus Allofs has confirmed.

Former Arsenal striker Bendtner joined Wolfsburg on a three-year deal in the summer of 2014, but has struggled to make an impact at the Bundesliga club.

Last month, Wolfsburg's sporting Klaus Allofs branded the Dane's time at the club a "failure."

His impact on the pitch has been limited to 46 appearances in all competitions, most of them as a late substitute, and a total of eight goals.

In recent weeks, Bendtner was fined for posting a photo of himself on Instagram getting into a Mercedes -- rivals to Die Wolfe's owners Volkswagen -- and also for arriving 50 minutes late for a training session.

As a result, he was banned from team training and has since worked individually at the club's training facilities.

On Wednesday, Wolfsburg met with Bendtner's representatives and have agreed to release him from training for the time being.

"The current situation has been unsatisfactory for everyone involved, and it cannot turn into a permanent solution. That's why we discussed solutions with his agents on Wednesday," Allofs was quoted in the statement, which added that "there will be a timely decision about his sporting future."

According to kicker, the club are currently working on cancelling Bendtner's contract.
