Luiz Gustavo could miss Hannover match with knee injury - Hecking

Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking admits Luiz Gustavo could miss Saturday's match against Hannover and faces a race against time to be fit for the trip to Manchester United in the Champions League.

The woes appear to be mounting for Wolfsburg, who were handed a 5-1 thrashing by Bayern Munich, Robert Lewandowski getting all the goals for the Bavarians.

Wolfsburg thereby became part of some unwanted history, while Gustavo's knee problems resurfaced on Tuesday night as he ended up playing just under an hour.

The German club are set to visit Old Trafford on September 30 for their Champions League Group B game and speaking after the defeat to Bayern, Hecking was quoted on German outlet Kicker as saying: "It looks like it is not good for Saturday.

"Even for Manchester it could be tight. We have to see that the inflammation comes out quickly.

"The irritation is increased again. I think that we need to plan for a longer break.''
