Andre Schurrle hoping he can rediscover his old form at Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg forward Andre Schurrle says his performance in the 1-0 Champions League win over CSKA Moscow could mark the start of his return to form.

Schurrle, 24, joined Wolfsburg from Chelsea for €32 million in January and has since made 25 appearances for the Bundesliga club.

However, the Germany international has completed the full 90 minutes only three times, while scoring just one goal and setting up a further three.

But following his display on Tuesday, Schurrle is confident that he can start to show just why Wolfsburg were prepared to spend so big on him in the first place.

"I wanted to get into the match by winning tackles," he told kicker. "In any case, it was a beginning. There is no other way. I need to find my game, be aggressive, change my fortunes and find the right track. This gives me confidence. I need to stay alert."

Schurrle added that he profited from the partnership of Max Kruse and Julian Draxler in central midfield against CSKA.

"They're important for us wingers to get into the match and not starve," he said.

Elsewhere, Wolfsburg have vowed to do their best to attract more supporters to games following the disappointing attendance against CSKA -- only 20,126 showed up for the club's first Champions League game in nearly six years.

"We have so far not managed to turn spectators into fans," Thomas Rottgermann, the club's marketing executive, told Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung. "We need to show people why they should be fascinated -- that will lead to playing in front of a capacity crowd in the future."

Rottgermann added that he intends to speak with Wolfsburg supporters to "find out what the club can improve."
