Netherlands call-up would be 'a dream,' says striker Bas Dost

Wolfsburg forward Bas Dost scored twice as his side saw off Hertha Berlin to continue his prolific run of form -- and said a Netherlands call-up would be "a dream, but is not an issue right now."

Dost's double took his tally to 11 goals in six competitive games in 2015, with the 25-year-old having become the first Bundesliga player ever to score nine goals in the first five games after the winter break.

The in-form attacker has netted 12 of Wolfsburg's 19 goals in the last seven matches and has been in outstanding form since the departure of Ivica Olic, who returned to Hamburg in January.

"It's going really well," he told reporters after the match, saying of a call-up by Netherlands coach Guus Hiddink. "That's a dream, but is not an issue right now."

"It appears that I was right about Bas," Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking told his postmatch news conference.

"He didn't even play that well today but -- and this is what singles out a Torjager, a goal-getter -- he was there when it mattered.

"Compliments to the team on how they mastered this tough week."

His Berlin counterpart Pal Dardai said: "Wolfsburg are the team of the moment and are on an unbelievable run. Our performance was good, but Wolfsburg were better."
