Stuttgart demote coach Jurgen Kramny after suffering relegation

Stuttgart coach Jurgen Kramny has been demoted back to his previous position as reserve team boss following their relegation from the Bundesliga on Saturday to the second division for the first time in 41 years.

Kramny was promoted to the first team in November, initially on a caretaker basis, following the dismissal of Alexander Zorniger.

Improved results between then and the winter break were rewarded with a new full-time contract until 2017.

But a club spokesperson told sport1.de on Sunday: "This contract was only valid in the Bundesliga.

"As of now, his previous contract comes back into force."

Stuttgart, relegated for only the second time in their history, have yet to announce who Kramny's replacement will be.

At the same time, Stuttgart's president Bernd Wahler announced his resignation on Sunday.

Wahler said he was taking responsibility for the club's demise, calling it "incomprehensible" and a "black day in the history of the club."
