Real Madrid

A fantastic game comes to a close and I'm delighted for Galatasaray that they hung on to win the game. At one stage it looked like an unthinkable comeback could be on but Real weathered the storm and grabbed a late goal to make it 5-3 on aggregate. A fine advert for the Champions League and Real through to their 24th semi-final.

  • 94'

Amrabat is carded for a lunge on Ronaldo, needless really. And that is that!

  • 93'

Benzema does well to cut the ball back and Ronaldo strokes home from 10 yards. Fatih Terim and Mourinho embrace, Gala's fans sing louder than ever. what a game.

  • 92'

GOAL Ronaldo puts an emphatic seal on the game!

  • 91'

Amrabat fires wide from 30 yards and Dortmund are through! What a finale!

  • 90'

Absolute chaos in both games! Gala's journey is coming to an end as Inan's free kick is nodded clear.

  • 89'

Arbeloa has talked himself into another yellow and now he's been sent off! And Dortmund have scored! 3-2!

  • 89'

Arbeloa gets booked. Dortmund have made it 2-2 against Malaga. Three minutes to find another!

  • 88'

Drogba can't meet a looping Inan cross. Real nearly there.

  • 87'

Inan tries to play Sarioglu in on the right side of the box but over hits the pass.

  • 86'

Ronaldo looks a frustrated figure as a free kick goes against him.

  • 85'

Real have taken a bit of the sting out of the occasion. Gala looking tired now.

  • 84'

Malaga 2-1 up in Germany now! Looks like they are through to the semis.

  • 83'

Real trying to play possession football now. Whistles deafening.

  • 82'

Albiol on for Ozil. Jose trying to shut this down.

  • 81'

Drogba has the ball in the net again ... but is rightly flagged offside. A yard off when the ball came into him.

  • 80'

Ronaldo is having a stinker in the last ten minutes - an errant pass when Ozil was breaking.

  • 79'

Johan Elmander comes on for Eboue. Nooo! Not Eboue.

  • 78'

A fearsome sliding tackle from Riera on Ozil - he had to get that one right.

  • 77'

Though a back pass from 30 yards is decried by their own fans.

  • 76'

Superb noise coming from the home fans, like it has all game.

  • 76'

Again the referee penalises a totally fair challenge for an aerial ball. Ridiculous. How can he adjudge Melo to be at fault there? He did exactly what Khedira did.

  • 75'

Amrabat beats Modric and is blocked but the ref tells him to get up. Still Gala pour forward.

  • 74'

Well, well. Gala need two more goals but they've just scored two in two minutes! Real rocking and Mourinho not happy as Ronaldo goes mightily close with a great volley.

  • 73'

Stone me! A sublime flick from Drogba as Amrabat beat his man and crossed. Crikey. Hold onto your hats!

  • 72'

    GOAL Drogba flicks home!

  • 71'

A fantastic ball into him from Inan, a brilliant first touch and a great finish. They couldn't, could they?

  • 70'

GOAL Sneijder with a superb goal!

  • 69'

Only a vital header from Di Maria prevents another chance for Sneijder at the back post - he was shaping up to nod home before the touch. Crowd right into this now.

  • 68'

Real have dropped off a level here and Gala are getting good possession.

  • 67'

Good second half this, ignore the aggregate score and you wouldn't be able to guess it.

  • 66'

He hit it well enough but the wall blocked it, then as the ball is recycled he has a chance but rakes slowly to the back post and Lopez gathers.

  • 65'

Drogba over this one. 30 yards out I'd say.

  • 64'

Great ball in from Eboue! Drogba narrowly fails to connect, then the second ball in is cleared by Varane. Higuain fouls Melo. Free kick chance.

  • 63'

Bulut off Sarioglu on for Galatasaray.

  • 62'

Oh my word! What a miss from Sneijder! The ball rolls across the box to him and from eight yards, with only Lopez to beat, he's drilled it four yards wide. How much is he on a week?!

  • 61'

Arbeloa ends Amrabat's run with a crude block.

  • 60'

About five passes in a row go astray. Chances at both ends had they gone where intended.

  • 59'

So, a glimmer of hope for .... no. But still, great goal.

  • 58'

A Gala break down the left ends with a cross from Sneijder and an absolute rocket into the top corner from the former Arsenal full back. Crikey!

  • 57'

GOAL What a goal from Eboue!

  • 56'

Wow, that is a collector's item, a horror miss from Ronaldo, who got Di Maria's cross under his feet and fires wide from seven yards. Goodness me.

  • 55'

Di Maria the latest to go down but he got a nasty swipe from Riera.

  • 54'

Sniejder again has been peripheral. Not looking such a great loss for several European clubs who were put off by his wage demands now.

  • 53'

Khedira's saying he's injured his neck to the physio. He's on his feet now though to predictable jeers.

  • 52'

Khedira down after a strong tackle from Kaya. It in no way looked as bad as Khedira is making it out to be.

  • 51'

Amrabat is on for Altintop by the way....

  • 50'

Final ball again lacking for Gala.

  • 49'

Inan shoots from range but that was never going to trouble Lopez.

  • 48'

I hope we at least get a Gala goal, so the fans can go potty.

  • 47'

Oh referee - that is a shocking decision. A looping ball is contested by Drogba, as is his right, and though he wins the ball the whistle goes. Over protection of goalkeepers really grinds my gears...

  • 46'

    We begin again...

  •

In Germany, Joaquin opened the scoring for Malaga with a precise shot from outside the box before a glorious reply from Dortmund with Reus finding Gotze whose sublime flick found Lewandowski to equalise.

  •

Well, how dispiriting for Gala to concede another goal inside the opening ten minutes. They tried gamely after that but if we didn't know it already, that ensured the tie was dead as a dodo.

  • 45'

HALF TIME - Higuain is marginally offside from Modric's pass as the opening period comes to a close. Gala out of their depth really, but trying hard for their fans, who are still in fine voice.

  • 44'

Eboue booked for bringing down Ronaldo. Harsh.

  • 43'

A poor pass from Coentrao ends a nice spell of Real possession, then Di Maria can't find Ronaldo through the middle.

  • 42'

Real far more comfortable in possession. This should be a cruise from here on in now.

  • 40'

Decent turn from Bulut but he lifted his head up after striking from the box edge and fired over the bar.

  • 39'

Eboue's ball to Drogba is good but a little too quick - the striker can;t gather it into his path.

  • 38'

All square in Germany, Lewandowski makes it Dortmund 1-1 Malaga. You can follow that game here with Chris Borg.

  • 37'

Gala's passing is poor. Don't think the pitch is helping. Drogba getting frustrated, shoving Coentrao and getting a corner. Wow, bizarre decision.

  • 36'

Eboue's cross is right down Diego Lopez's gullet. Poor.

  • 35'

Muslera charges 35 yards out of his box to deny Ozil a chance to get on the end of Khedira's pass.

  • 34'

Drogba refuses to strike a ball that sat up nicely and clips it into the box where Zan is offside.

  • 33'

Inan and Senijder wait forever to take it, consult each other several times, then Inan hits the wall. Corner.

  • 32'

Drogba, Sneijder and Inan jostling over the ball.

  • 31'

Sneijder falls theatrically and wins a free kick.

  • 30'

Essien hobbles off, Arbeloa comes on.

  • 29'

Essien is down and it looks like he may have to go off - possible hamstring injury.

  • 28'

The prospect of three Spanish teams in the semis is alive and well then *strokes beard*

  • 27'

Khedira does very well to get the ball to Higuain inside the area but the Argentine is very slow on the uptake and his touch is poor.

  • 26'

Drogba having a very limited impact too.

  • 25'

Real have defended crosses well so far. Altintop delivers another that is repelled.

  • 24'

Brilliant save from Muslera! A sublime flick from Ronaldo to the onrushing Di Maria and a quite brilliant stop from Muslera who get the slightest of touches to take the shot over his crossbar.

  • 23'

Goal in Germany, for Malaga! You can follow that game here with Chris Borg.

  • 22'

Real just do everything with the ball so much quicker than Gala - the difference is very noticeable.

  • 21'

    Ronaldo celebrates his early goal

  • 20'

Sniejder is booked for talking back - not for the first time - when he complains about a jostle between Eboue and Coentrao.

  • 19'

The referee looks menacing - he repeatedly screams "No!" at Inan who claims he won the ball fairly from Higuain.

  • 18'

Melo trips Essien after going to ground needlessly. The crowd are still up for this, by the way.

  • 17'

It should be 2-0, Ozil has Higuain and Ronaldo to aim at, he picks the former but the latter was in acres of space at the back post.

  • 16'

Melo nearly finds Sniejder with a worldy of a pass - it skips off the turf too fast for the flying Dutchman to get anything on it.

  • 15'

Great ball in from Sniejder, Drogba narrowly fails to meet it. Much better from the home side, stretching Real in wide areas.

  • 14'

Altintop looks to the back post for Eboue but his diving header only works on a comedy level.

  • 13'

Better from Gala - Altintop into Bulut and he finds Drogba but his first time cross is misguided and cleared by Pepe.

  • 12'

A poor cross from Essien after neat approach work from Real. There are plenty more goals for them tonight if they want them.

  • 11'

This is an exercise in restoring pride for Gala now. Their open approach last week at the Bernabeu has cost them.

  • 10'

The worst possible start for Gala - if they had any hope in this game it was to score first. Now they need five goals. How they could do with Ronaldo - that was his 47th of the season.

  • 9'

That's seven games running Ronaldo has scored. This one was so easy, Khedira in down the right, crosses and Ron volleys in from four yards.

  • 8'

GOAL Ronaldo converts and this tie is over!

  • 7'

Essien crosses and Higuain wins a corner via a deflection off Zan. He wants a penalty instead.

  • 6'

Gala far too eager to dive in when Real have the ball. Deafening whistles when the away side are in possession.

  • 5'

Eboue slips as he was about to take on Coentrao.

  • 4'

Sneijder clips Modric as Drogba continues to limp about the field. He's had two touches and hobbled away both times.

  • 3'

What a scramble! Muslera rushes out to prevent Higuain getting on a through ball and as he rushes to get back Di Maria's shot dribbles wide via a deflection.

  • 2'

Drogba's first involvement ends with him lying on the floor minus a boot.

  • 1'

KICK OFF - Gala's epic quest begins...

  •

The last time Madrid lost by three goals or more in UEFA competition was a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in the second leg of their 2008/09 Champions League last 16 tie. Only ten times in their European history have they lost by a scoreline that would either take this tie into extra time or send Galatasaray through.

  •

Ominously, Real have scored in every single away game in the Champions League under Mourinho, all 16 of them, and their coach also has a 100% record in UCL last eight fixtures.

  •

24 - the number of years it has been since Gala made the semi-finals of Europe's premier club competition, and the amount of appearances in the final four Real will reach should they progress tonight.

  •

Gala have it all to do let us not forget - 3-0 down from the first leg they have to strike a tough balance tonight, pushing forward to try and get the crucial first goal but not offering too many gaps for Real to register the away goal that would surely kill the tie.

  •

  •

There's a wealth of pre-match reading to get on with, so I suggest you get clicking. Firstly, Real's stars say the intense atmosphere in Istanbul won't affect them, while Rob Train says attack is the best form of defence for Real.

  •

Galatasaray: Muslera, Gokhan Zan, Semin Kaya, Eboue, Altintop, Selcuk Inan, Melo, Riera, Sneijder, Umut Bulut, Drogba.

  •

Real team: Diego López, Essien, Varane, Pepe, Coentrao, Khedira, Modric, Özil, Di María, Ronaldo, Higuaín.

These two special friends will be reunited for the second time in less than a week in Istanbul
