  •

Roger Bennett: Rav. Who do you think is feeling the pressure more tonight? Robin Van Persie? Ronaldo? or Christian Eriksen?

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Good night.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Join us again for Group fun tomorrow.
After today, who knows what'll happen!

  •

Ravi Ubha: Guys, thanks for your company this evening (here in Ukraine).
You've made it fun as usual.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: No.
If Holland wins and Denmark loses, three teams on 3 points. In that case with the results head to head it goes to goal differential in their games or goals scored. Hopefully that'd settle it.

  •

    [Comment from Yale]
So if head to head is the first tie-breaker than that means that Holland is eliminated no matter it's result against Portugal.

  •

Ravi Ubha: RussianinCanada, no. Haven't clinched.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Germany, Denmark and Portugal on six points. They would then exit either on goal differential (in their mini group) or goals scored.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: They'll take this scenario compared to alternatives, but tough for Greece to play their next match without captain Karagounis (as well as Jose Holebas).

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
What would be the scenario where Germany does not go through?

  •

    [Comment from Jim]
Jason, whats wrong with Greece winning the Euros?

  •

Ravi Ubha: Lovely, Vancouver, even in the rain.

  •

    [Comment from RussianInCanada]
Rainy Vancouver where the weather here matches the feeling of the Russian fans.

  •

Ravi Ubha: This fairy tale last two months continues for Cech.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Agree

  •

    [Comment from josh]
Head to head. You beat a team and finish level on points, you should go through

  •

Ravi Ubha: I never asked you -- where in Canada?

  •

    [Comment from RussianInCanada]
Thanks Ravi. Time to go open a bottle of Vodka and toast to what could have been. Farewell.

  •

Ravi Ubha: To repeat, Greece goes through ahead of Russia because of the head-to-head, NOT goal difference overall.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Alex, I'm the one thanking you. Great job.
And great job to everyone else who helped me feel like I was watching both games.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: First Russian loss in the last 17 matches

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Ravi thanks again for posting all of my comments about the Greece-Russia match. It made me feel somewhat like a journalist even though I have no background in it and I am just an avid football fan here in the states.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Could be more of the same tomorrow with the Dutch, who lead the tournament with 38 scoring chances created and one goal. That trend didn't work out so well for Russia today.

  •

    [Comment from RandomDude]
That's the magic of football, you never know what will happen

  •

    [Comment from Guest]
Russian team - looked like they played with heavy legs. Its "Hangover 2" for them.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Head to head.

  •

    [Comment from Kevin]
I don't understand why Greek is in and Russia is out

  •

Ravi Ubha: And here I thought England would walk past Ukraine. This has changed my view.

  •

    [Comment from super mario]
what a messed up group ... no clearly deserving team going thru

  •

    [Comment from hari]
ummm Ravi... you are a brave man to predict after watching what happened today !!!

  •

Ravi Ubha: Must win by at least two and hope Germany beats Den.

  •

    [Comment from Matt]
Netherlands still has a sliver of hope, right? What's their scenario for advancing?

  •

    [Comment from RussianInCanada]
    Germany Denmark advance

  •

Ravi Ubha: Germany, Portugal to advance.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
    Group B predictions?

  •

    Ravi Ubha: H-to-H.

  •

    [Comment from Scouser]
Better format for tiebreakers? Head to head or goal differential?

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Two highest shot totals in the tournament (Netherlands-28 vs Denmark and Russia- 25 today) were in 1-0 losses.

  •

    [Comment from Daniel]
SOMEONE is going to Siberia over this

  •

    [Comment from Zach]
Russia had plenty of shots, but they were too far out and too wild.

  •

    [Comment from RussianInCanada]
Lets just hope my fellow Russians can leave Poland with some class and not cause any disturbances.

  •

    [Comment from Olomouc Scott]
The Czech owe the Poles a thanks for the draw with Russia

  •

Ravi Ubha: And don't think you the Netherlands will be even more pumped to get second tomorrow? If they grab it, they'll play the Czechs. Germany likely will have Greece.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Attacking third touches- Russia 261, Greece 79... Just couldn't find an equalizer.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Czechs.

  •

    [Comment from GFOP Mike]
Who was tops in the group?

  •

    [Comment from Scouser]
    Wow...how disappointing.

  •

    [Comment from eddy]
and the russians had cheered so loud when they were drawn into group A

  •

Ravi Ubha: I'd say no...but did I think they'd both advance? Heck no, too!

  •

    [Comment from Andrew D.]
Do either of these teams have a shot at getting past the quarters?

  •

    [Comment from Joe G.]
Can't believe that the Czechs made it and the Russians ate it.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Incredible... Greece and the Czechs moving on- Russia outshot Greece 24-5 and posted a 193-48 passes in the attacking third advantage.

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
PLEASE, don't let Greece win the Euros.

  •

    [Comment from Travis]
Czechs win the group and Russia is out, wow

  •

    [Comment from Matt]
I thought that header was in the back of the net for Poland!

  •

    [Comment from Pog]
    GROUP OF LIFE

  •

    [Comment from Matt]
    Hellas Athene!

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
    There goes my bracket.

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
    this is crazy

  •

    [Comment from chris]
and this is precisely why i love the euros...upsets

  •

    [Comment from Travis]
    Wow

  •

Ravi Ubha: Samaras on the ground in disbelief.

  •

Ravi Ubha: How did Russia manage to mess this up?

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Wow, wow, wow.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Czechs and Greeks through.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: UNBELIEVABLE!

  •

Ravi Ubha: Greeks win, 1-0, final!

  •

Ravi Ubha: Czechs win 1-0, final.

  •

    [Comment from hari]
what a year for cech !!!!

  •

    Ravi Ubha: 93:30.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: The Czechs moving on! What a finish with a Polish shot cleared off the line seconds before the game ends.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Berezutski can't keep it in -- overhit corner from Arshavin.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Corner when Zhirkov's cross goes off a defender.

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
Ravi I don't know how we (Chelsea) got 13m for him.

  •

    [Comment from Matt]
Nice job earning that yellow card.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: The Dutch had 28 shots, most in a game this tournament, in that 1-0 loss to Denmark. Russia checks in with 24 today, matching the shot total from the first two games combined.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Well, no. Pogrebnyak used his arm to bring the ball down before testing Sifakis.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: SAVE!

  •

Ravi Ubha: Two of the four done.

  •

Ravi Ubha: That's the Zhirkov Chelsea fans loved. Great position on the left but he overhits his cross and it amounts to nothing.

  •

    [Comment from Joe G.]
Hope Katsouranis earned 2 mins of that added time

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
Come on Russia..get 5 minutes added time!

  •

Ravi Ubha: Silly by Shirokov there. Gets into it with a Greek player and thus wastes 30 seconds.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: 23-5 in shots for Russia... Shades of Denmark-Netherlands here

  •

Ravi Ubha: 4 minutes of added time.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Again, if this stays the way it is, Czechs and Greece to advance.

  •

    [Comment from Pog]
    Baros off, Peckhart on.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Queuing up at the backpost but the header goes meekly to the GK.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Short corner.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Last chance?

  •

Ravi Ubha: Dzagoev earns a corner.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Not sure about 'buddies'

  •

    [Comment from canyonhawk]
Russian need their Polish buddies to score a goal for them

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Man City is far better than this Polish side, sorry its the truth...

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
Poland are playing a better side than QPR though.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Poor touch in front of the box gives Greece possession. Santos literally can't watch.

  •

    [Comment from jay]
if man city can score 2 in stoppage then so can Poland

  •

    [Comment from Pog]
    Pilar off, Rezek on.

  •

    [Comment from pete]
after that time wasting, i'd love to see russia get an equalizer

  •

    [Comment from Iggy]
I wish the futbol governing bodies would give retroactive cards for that.

  •

    [Comment from Bobby T.]
I hope the ref adds 10 extra minutes for that. Pathetic

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Interesting notes: Russia lost its first match at Euro 2008 by a score of 4-1 and made it out of the group and into the semis... This tournament, Russia wins group opener 4-1 and could be finished.

  •

    [Comment from Rory]
Pretty soon Poland might not want to score, keep Russia out, or is that too cynical?

  •

Ravi Ubha: Zhirkov loses possession. Greece GK.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Throw in to Russia in Greece half.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: 86 minutes done.

  •

Ravi Ubha: And wouldn't you know, he's just fine.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Pathetic. Very minimal contact, he motions to his face, then switches to his leg!

  •

    [Comment from Josh]
Wow, dude didn't even get touched. Card him.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
    Nice stalling tactic from Greece...

  •

    [Comment from chris]
and a greek player goes down very very softly

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
What a flop by the Greek.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Did I see what I just did? Oh that is horrible from Katsouranis.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Arshaving with ball to his feet but is eventually stripped.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
    Probably shaved the post close.

  •

    [Comment from chris]
dzagoev looks distraught there, cannot believe what is happening!

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
    Dzagoev almost does it again!

  •

    [Comment from Josh]
    How close was that?!

  •

Ravi Ubha: Arshavin with a great cross to Dzagoev and his glancing header is half a hard wide!

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Oh, almost!

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Kerzhakov...

  •

    [Comment from Travis]
Russia looks more like the Netherlands today

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
Greece going from 9-0-1 to 10-0-0?

  •

Ravi Ubha: Ninis on for Salpingidis.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: study that... there will be a quiz later.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Greece making another sub.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Late goals would do the following:

    - if Poland scores: RUS and GRE through
    - if Russia scores: CZE and RUS through
    - if BOTH score (both 1-1 draws): RUS and CZE through

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Russian heads down.

  •

    [Comment from Matt]
Looks like Russia's best chance will be a Polish equalizer.

  •

    [Comment from chris]
This is why I love the Euros so much!

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
    Anyukov off, Izmailov on.

  •

    [Comment from Zach]
    Russia is done

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
Very nearly a 2nd for Greece!

  •

Ravi Ubha: This no volume is driving me nuts!

  •

Ravi Ubha: And Greece almost hits Russia on the counter!

  •

    [Comment from Scouser]
    Czechs yes, Greece....no

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
Nope Ravi. I had Russia and the Czechs.

  •

    [Comment from Iggy]
Oh look a Greek player not defending the box!

  •

    [Comment from A]
Russian needs to use the wings, Greece has packed the middle up too tight

  •

Ravi Ubha: Could anyone SERIOUSLY have seen the Czechs and Greece going through?

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: In the first two matches, Russia had five goals on 24 shots. Today they've taken 20 shots.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Samaras wins a free kick, giving Greece some time.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Arshavin and Dzagoev have 79 touches in the attacking third. Greece as a team has 71.

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
    Czech corner.

  •

Ravi Ubha: RussianinCanada, Advocaat is gone after the tournament anyway.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Advocaat looking very tense

  •

    Ravi Ubha: No volume...argh

  •

Ravi Ubha: Guys, tactical change from me: Switched to Russia-Greece. Keep me posted on the Polish doings.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: 19-5 shots advantage for Russia.

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
    Let's go Russia!

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Booking for Alan Dzagoev as well for Russia... He'll miss the next round should Russia advance.

  •

    [Comment from chris]
baros offside, lucky break for the poles

  •

Ravi Ubha: The Poles now need two goals to advance.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: As Zhirkov goes down, both sides screaming for decision after the booking for Karagounis in a similar situation. No penalty has been awarded since the opening day of the competition (Greece).

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Russia and Greece.

  •

    [Comment from A]
    if Poland levels who advances?

  •

    [Comment from Pog]
Say goodbye to your bracket, everyone!

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
Ravi, no mention of Greece hitting the crossbar from a free kick yet.

  •

    [Comment from Travis]
Russia adds another striker. Pogrebnyak comes on for Glushakov.

  •

    [Comment from Scouser]
    Pogrebnyak is in now

  •

    [Comment from ToddInTheShadows]
    Russia better step it up.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Pogrebnyak in for Russia now... Urgency definitely required in attack

  •

Ravi Ubha: Murawski immediately hauled off, Adrian Mierzejewski in.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Murawski with the bad give away in the middle of the park and the Czechs pounce. Great finish by Jiracek, far post on the ground, no chance.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: With the Czech goal: The Czech Republic would top the group if results hold... Greece would move on as runner-up.

  •

  •

    Ravi Ubha: 1-0 Czechs.

  •

Ravi Ubha: And maybe Russian hearts too!

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Russia with a 17-3 shots advantage, but Salpingidis got hauled down by Zhirkov... Tsavellas rockets one off the woodwork from the set piece.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Jiracek breaks Polish hearts!

  •

    Ravi Ubha: GOAL Czechs!

  •

Ravi Ubha: Promising move on the left for nothing when a slip leads to mis-hit cross.

  •

    [Comment from chris]
I think greece are playing a 6-4-0 right now

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
    Greece parking the bus.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Karagounis still upset with the official... Handing off his armband to Katsouranis and is being replaced by Grigoris Makos. Makos has not yet seen tournament action.

  •

    [Comment from Travis]
Another Greek sub. Karagounis gives his armband to Katsouranis and comes off for Makos. More defenders!

  •

    [Comment from chris]
karagounis off, that's a big decision

  •

    [Comment from Tanto]
Tyton is easily Poland's player of the tournament

  •

    [Comment from Olomouc Scott]
    Yeah the Czech woke up

  •

James Tyler: This sub for Greece, Makos, has a fantastic beard.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Way more doesn't mean great given how poor they were for most of the first. But you're right.

  •

    [Comment from Johnny]
C'mon Ravi! Czechs are way more entertaining this half!

  •

Ravi Ubha: Sloppy pass by the Poles gives the Czechs possession and on the break Baros' low shot is gathered by Tyton.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Looks like the two games have gone in opposite directions. Poland-Czechs started exciting but has faded. Russia-Greece vice-versa.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: In the second half, the Czechs have completed 24 passes in the attacking third. Poland has six.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Foul on Russia. Karagounis bundled over. On the wing...

  •

    [Comment from Philip Angelides]
In a time when nothing is going right for Greece, the refs have only made things worse.

  •

    [Comment from chris]
greece, striker off defender on...guess we know they're game plan

  •

    [Comment from Travis]
SUB. Holebas comes on for Gekas. It was expected really

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
    And the Czech's attack again..

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Ravi, JT Would be mad.... its TYTON.

  •

    [Comment from jay]
the yellow card on Greece was almost as bad as the red in the opening match

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
    A goal is coming

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Tyton has had very little to do in this game. Impressive that he delivered when called upon.

  •

    [Comment from Justin]
WOW! What a save by Tyton!

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
    What a save by Tyton!

  •

Ravi Ubha: Very quick to react to Sivok's header from a yard out. Yes it was straight at him but showed good instincts.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Pilar is giving Pisczcek a torrid time down the left wing. He's really helped tilt this game in the Czech

  •

Ravi Ubha: What a save by Tyton!

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: He will miss the next match (assuming they advance) for Greece... Karagouis is both captain and tied for Greece's all-time lead with 120 caps.

  •

    [Comment from A]
Karagounis will miss the next game if they advance

  •

    [Comment from Scouser]
    Definitely a penalty. Karagounis livid

  •

    [Comment from Jim]
Contact in the box. Greeks robbed of a PK.

  •

    [Comment from jay]
the Greeks have had no luck with the refs the whole tournament

  •

    [Comment from Rory]
    Karagounis cannot believe it

  •

    [Comment from Max]
And should have been a penalty.

  •

    [Comment from DW]
No way that was a dive.. Stone wall Penalty!!

  •

    [Comment from Josh]
Karagounis has the greatest facial expressions.

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
Yellow card to Karagounis for a supposed dive in the box. There was definitely contact. Could easily have been a penalty.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: That's a huge decision by the official in the Greece-Russia match... Karagounis booked for diving in the box, shouting for penalty.

  •

    [Comment from Johnny]
    Another chance for the Czechs

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
Poland don't look like the home team that needs to win

  •

    [Comment from A]
    DIVE. Karagounis. Yellow card.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Pardon me, it was Gebre Selassie.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Plasil to Baros, but the header goes over the bar.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Cleared, but then the Czechs win another free kick to Tyton's left, tight angle.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: WOW... Torosidis with a chance from the right, tried to cross to Gekas barely played out for a corner. Ensuing corner just missed to Gekas... Greece almost doubled the lead.

  •

Ravi Ubha: He'll try to whip it in and have someone get on the end of it.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Plasil to take it.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Wasilewski takes down Limbersky at the edge of the box to Tyton's right. Dangerous spot for a FK.

  •

    [Comment from A]
    Denisov. Very close.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Pilar makes a meal out of things after he's nudged off the ball.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Denisov with a laser wide of net... Possession at 61-39 to Russia.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Literally tackles. As in american football tackle.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Getting closer for Russia... That's now a 15-3 shots advantage

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Samaras tackles his marker and is amazed when a foul is given against him

  •

    [Comment from canyonhawk]
If things stand, Russia and Chelsea both go through

  •

Ravi Ubha: Russia needed to make a change for sure. But Pav isn't someone who always hits the target, too. Tottenham fans will tell you that. He's also pretty selfish in front of goal. But he had to enter.

  •

    [Comment from Bart]
I don't see how the Czech/Pol game ends in a draw, given the incentives

  •

    [Comment from RussianInCanada]
Hit the net Russia LETS GO!!

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
Pav just did a Kerzhakov impression. Well high and well wide.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Pav from 20. High wide and not so handsome.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Sub: Grosicki for Polanski.

  •

    [Comment from Travis]
Shirokov's shot inside the box blasted over

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
14 attempts to Russia to Greece's 3. Incredible.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: France 1984.

  •

    [Comment from chris]
when's the last time a host country won the euros?

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Shot from Samaras after a 50 yard run... drags it wide.

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
    Good defensive header from Lewandowski.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Pav chasing the ball down like a dog chasing a car.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Baros shot from outside the box blocked. Corner.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: The Czechs have some hope too... Poland historically has not kept a clean sheet in the country's five Euro games.

  •

    [Comment from jay]
Poland and Czech Republic both need to win to advance, should be the better second half

  •

Ravi Ubha: And if the Czechs score, it's them and Greece.

  •

Ravi Ubha: No, they're right. Russia and Greece if it stays like this.

  •

    [Comment from Johnny]
Thank you. So as it stands Russia and CZ will go through correct? All the pundits have it wrong :O

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Pav is on for Kerzhakov so we can stop assuming Greece have 12 on the pitch now.

  •

    [Comment from Rory]
    Hook for Kerzhakov

  •

Ravi Ubha: Olp1977, I hope not. Seriously they'd be so negative.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
    Greece Russia 2nd half start!

  •

    [Comment from Olp1977]
Can Greece recover the magic of 8 years ago

  •

    [Comment from Colin]
Gebre Selassi is so much fun to watch IMO.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Johnny, head to head first. If I said GD, I was drifting.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Polanski just booked for takedown of Pilar. He'll miss the next match if Poland makes it that far.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Poland, host nation.

  •

    [Comment from chris]
if you had to pick only one of the two games to watch the second half, which would it be and why?

  •

  •

  •

Ravi Ubha: About to start the second half.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Lucky you!

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
It is nice to be able to watch without having to work today.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Wouldn't say Mellberg is highly talented, comparing him to the Dutch.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Netherlands as they have a squad full of talent. Sweden has Zlatan and Mellberg.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Heck yes!

  •

    [Comment from Rory]
Will the teams know the status of the other game?

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
    Netherlands, obviously.

  •

Ravi Ubha: As of now, the Czechs do need a goal. They're in an interesting spot.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: It will be interesting to see if the Czechs open things up in the second half. They've had some decent chances, but haven't really connected on their shots. Wonder if we'll see Tomas Pekhart come on alongside Baros rather than in place of him if the Czechs need a goal.

  •

    [Comment from Brandon]
Bigger disappointment so far, Netherlands or Sweden?

  •

Ravi Ubha: Johnny, correct. Head to head first.

  •

    [Comment from Travis]
    Cech and Ronaldo

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
How many shots has he had off target? More than any other player has had combined off and on target surely.

  •

    [Comment from kydetwsoc]
cristiano ronaldo, just because of the sheer expectation and the fact that he's beautiful, that's why ppl hate him

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
    Ronaldo.

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
    I'll go Ronaldo or Robben.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Greece hasn't beaten Russia since a 1-0 victory on November 17, 1993- qualifying for USA '94.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Bento in his press conference today was great to listen to. Not revealing but whenever he was asked about a particular player on his team, he'd sidestep it.

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
    RVP or Robben.

  •

    [Comment from Bobby T.]
Ronaldo right? Missed at least 2 absolute sitters against Denmark.

  •

    [Comment from A]
    ALL THE DUTCH

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
    Robben, Ravi.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Yes but how much did you expect from him beforehand?

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
IS THAT EVEN A QUESTION RAVI? Kerzhakov.

  •

Ravi Ubha: OK, guys an gals: Most disappointing player so far in the tournament?

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Thank you very much / For allowing me to do / play by play today

  •

    [Comment from A]
Kerzhakov is the most valuable player on the pitch for the Greeks

  •

    [Comment from Travis]
I expect to see Pav come in at halftime

  •

    [Comment from A]
Likelihood Greece goes to the 10-0-0 in the second half?

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Would love to see this result hold and have both Greece and Russia advance.

  •

    [Comment from John]
    1ºRussia 2º Greece 3º Czech 4º Poland

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
    Well that makes things interesting

  •

Ravi Ubha: Now that's the spirit.

  •

    [Comment from PoleFromUSA]
:) Salutes to brothers from Czech Republic wish you all good game but of course I will root for my own :D

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Possession edge in first half to Czechs 56-44. Would not have expected that without Rosicky.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Do you have a napkin?

  •

    [Comment from Gerasimos]
I just slobbered all over my TV kissing Karagounis

  •

Ravi Ubha: Now I think Advocaat really has to make a change. No use giving Kerzhakov 10-15 minutes. He's had enough time in the past two games.

  •

    [Comment from Brandon]
I think we are going to see a Germany v. Spain finally. Anyone have other ideas?

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Karagouis' goal was the latest first half goal of the tournament at the 46:48 mark... Russia held a 18-7 edge in touches in the box in the first half, but couldn't finish any of its 13 shots.

  •

    [Comment from ToddInTheShadows]
Goal differential as of right now between the three groups has Czech at -5. Current score holds, they ain't going through. It's Greece and Russia.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Oh, yeah, now that'd be something. Then Poland and Greece would go through.

  •

    [Comment from jay]
a goal form Poland would really make things interesting now.

  •

    [Comment from Nick in DC]
What was Zhirkov doing there? Time to go crawl in a hole for him.

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
I can't see Czechs and Poles remaining scoreless.

  •

    [Comment from Guest]
This would be a stunning ending to this group, wont hold up i believe

  •

    Ravi Ubha: LOL.

  •

    [Comment from A]
No Greek player will get more than 30 yards from his own net after half.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
    Talk about smash and grab...

  •

Ravi Ubha: If it's 4, 4,4, Russia, the Czechs and Greece would have all beaten each other, so it'd go down to GD in their games.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Russia is 1-11-2 when conceding first in Euro history, while Greece is 4-1-0 when taking the 1-0 lead in Euro play.

  •

    [Comment from GoneSailing]
    Who goes through now?

  •

    [Comment from Zach]
Russia played with no sense of urgency. Playing "not to lose".

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
Czechs may push a little harder now in the second half.

  •

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Karagounis with the finish! Greece has scored in 12 straight international matches now, and if current results hold Russia wins the group, with Greece moving on.

  •

    [Comment from guest]
Karagounis from 12 yards out, right side of 18-yard box.

  •

  •

    [Comment from Charlie]
THAT will get things going in the second half!!

  •

    [Comment from jay]
    greeeeeeeeeece

  •

  •

Ravi Ubha: Right on the stroke of halftime.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Karagounis.

  •

Ravi Ubha: GOAL in GREECE-RUSSIA to GREECE!

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
Wow, Greece score with 20 seconds left in the half.

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
Terrible last 25 minutes to the Poland-Czech game

  •

Ravi Ubha: Saddened but not surprised. I'm glad, however, that it appears to have stopped.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Russia has a 70-25 passes completed in the attacking third advantage... But there's one for the Greeks!!!

  •

    [Comment from Brandon]
Ravi, what do you make of all the racism claims so far? Surprised?

  •

    Ravi Ubha: HT: 0-0.

  •

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Baros has 7 touches in the match, easily the fewest. The next-closest player has 19 (Pisczcek).

  •

Ravi Ubha: Started off well in Poland-Czechs.

  •

    [Comment from ToddInTheShadows]
This has not been an exciting sudden death match on either side.

  •

    [Comment from Rory]
As a Chelsea fan I'm very excited

  •

Ravi Ubha: Limbersky with a promising cross from the left side but Baros can't get on the end of it.

  •

    [Comment from Bobby T.]
SIDENOTE: Anybody seeing this AVB to Tottenham is nearly done? As an Arsenal fan, I'm very excited.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Just why Piszczek tried that shot is beyond me. No one is ever going to score from that distance.

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
100% of shots off target don't go in.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Smuda frustrated as another chance is blocked.

  •

Ravi Ubha: I think he certainly hasn't done anything to diminish his value.

  •

    [Comment from Brandon]
Has the Euros made Lewandowski more of a hot commodity for the transfer market or less? Go Man U!

  •

Ravi Ubha: Especially in these conditions.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Russia has a 9-1 chances created advantage.

  •

    [Comment from Justin]
Poland better be careful with all those slide tackles in the box..

  •

    [Comment from Travis]
Zhirkov's shot off a short corner just goes over

  •

Ravi Ubha: Just about gathered it.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Pilar from close range but his shot goes straight to Tyton.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Russia has completed 50 passes in the attacking third, compared to 21 from Greece. They need to translate the possession advantage into shots on target- They've got 12 shots, but only 4 on frame as another one sails over the bar.

  •

    [Comment from Guest]
lewandowski is ALL alone in the front!

  •

    [Comment from jay]
feels like momentum is swinging to the guys in red in both games

  •

    [Comment from ToddInTheShadows]
Poland are playing hard but not completing. Starting to get frustrated.

  •

    [Comment from PoleFromUSA]
Vodka shots on me if Poland wins :)

  •

Ravi Ubha: Sounds like Advocaat will be forced into making a change. It's a problem for Russia going forward, against better opposition.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
It hit his standing leg, except unlike Paul Scholes, Kerzhakov has no luck.

  •

    [Comment from Iggy]
Arshavin makes the Greek Defense look like it's moving in slow motion.

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
    Kerzhakov fluffs another.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Kerzhakov whiffs! Looked easier to score.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Shot deflected and easy in the end for Tyton.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Really good spell now for the Czechs.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Fans beginning to whistle loudly at this long spell of Czech possession.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Reason to cheer!

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
    Baros almost has a chance.

  •

    [Comment from Nick]
major flop by the russian forward there

  •

Ravi Ubha: Trap vs. Italy plus showing some pride after Spain loss.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Aside from Lewandowski's goal against Greece, Poland has made a habit of not taking chances early in matches. Could come back to bite them here.

  •

Ravi Ubha: I have a sneaky feeling Ireland can nick a draw.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Those fans deserve a good performance against Italy.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Always had a reputation for having wonderful fans.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Ravi mentioned Jiricek earlier. Pilar on the other side is starting to make his presence felt as well, the better to occupy Kuba and PIszczek.

  •

    [Comment from Guest]
Can we all agree that Ireland has the best fans? Man, the way they kept cheering on their squad was amazing

  •

    [Comment from Eli]
If Poland wants to win this game they have to make more of the chances they're getting.

  •

Ravi Ubha: That was huge -- the Czechs quieting the fans down a bit by not conceding in the first 20. Much more balanced game.

  •

Ravi Ubha: And there was Gebre Selassie making another run, beats his man and his cut back slightly off.

  •

Ravi Ubha: That's what the stats say. Sometimes it can be misleading.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
A lot to a little... really Ravi? It seems Russia have had more of the ball...

  •

    [Comment from Travis]
Glushakov with a long shot that missed everything but the 24th row

  •

Ravi Ubha: From what I've seen I've liked his energy and his ability to move forward. Got caught out a bit against Russia but that's where his midfielder has to help. Not bad at all.

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
What are your thoughts on Gebre Selassie in this tournament Ravi?

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
Polish fans spirit has not been dampened by the rain. Still in full voice.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: 54-46 Russia.

  •

    [Comment from Iggy]
What are the possession numbers for this Greece-Russia match?

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Greece back to inefficiency in the attacking third. They've completed 18-38 passes (47.4 pct), and own (for now) three of the four worst single-game percentages in the tournament... Still waiting for that Russian counter goal.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: And another.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Czechs just starting to get a foothold in the game. Win a throw in deep in Poland's half after good work from Jiracek.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: 30 minutes gone.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Must be all the goal kicks Cech is taking !

  •

Ravi Ubha: For all Poland's chances, the Czechs edging possession, 54 percent to 46.

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
Rain is coming down in buckets!

  •

    [Comment from Rory]
I think the T-storms at great atmosphere especially if they don't stop games.

  •

Ravi Ubha: No. Don't think that'd happen.

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
But they'd have to suspend both matches, right?

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Russia.

  •

    [Comment from ToddInTheShadows]
Of the four teams, which one is gonna score first, do you think?

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Wait! Like yesterday.

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
What would they do if it had to be suspended?

  •

    [Comment from Charlie]
Hey, another Borussia Dortmund Connection mention!

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
The players from Dortmund are having a heck of a tournament.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Leander would be happy.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Russians tap tap tap tapping like Spain against Greece...

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
Chance after chance after chance..but no goal.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Yesterday was the first time in Euro history weather stopped a match.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Hope we don't get another Donetsk.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Kuba and Piszczek exchange 1-2s down the right side but the Poles eventually clear before a shot comes in.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Shades of yesterday. Thunder and lightning in Wroclaw. Game continuing for the moment.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Poland-Czechs.

  •

    [Comment from travis]
i just got home which match should i watch?

  •

    [Comment from Bobby T.]
Well we wonder that any Ravi....

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
Just like Chelsea fans wonder why Torres can't do it for them.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Maybe Arsenal can put a Russian emblem on his Arsenal shirt.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Five of Russia's last seven major tournament goals were scored (one) or assisted (four) by Arshavin.

  •

Ravi Ubha: But it would sure as heck frustrating for Arsenal fans.
They'd be wondering why he can't do that for them.

  •

    [Comment from RussianInCanada]
It would be nice to see Arshavin return to the glory of the 2008 Euros. With him and Dzagoev both producing it would be a beautiful thing to watch.

  •

    [Comment from milcia]
    Ohhh...come on PL!!!

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Of all people Samaras takes the ball away from Arshavin and clears.

  •

    [Comment from filabusta]
Oh the Czechs are due for a goal.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Poor pass by Kuba trying to set up Lewandowski.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Over. Gomez already has three and Germany will go far.

  •

    [Comment from Guest]
Non related question, what is your O/U for the top scorrer this tourny? 5.5?

  •

    [Comment from filabusta]
    *yawn*

  •

    [Comment from Bobby T.]
Wow what a shot from Poland.

  •

    [Comment from Justin]
They put one on target. Beautiful save by Cech though

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
Nice shot from distance there. Nice save as well.

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
    Poland really pressuring the Czechs.

  •

    [Comment from A]
I want Poland to go through because Poland v Germany will be a crazy crowd

  •

Ravi Ubha: So good I said it twice.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Well, there was a shot on target. Long range from Boenisch on the half volley and in slippery conditions Cech couldn't take a chance and pushes it out.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Well, there was a shot on target. Long range from Boenisch on the half volley and in slippery conditions Cech couldn't take a chance and pushes it out.

  •

Ravi Ubha: From a neutral's perspective, I hope Poland gets through. Can you imagine the Czechs playing Germany? Nine men behind the ball.
The Poles would at least have a go.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Baros has three touches today, and only one in the attacking third.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Arshavin scuffs wide from the top of the 18.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Also Robbie Mustoe and Adrian Healey are really doing justice to this match.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Greece and Russia attacking equally today... Touches in the attacking third are 25-25

  •

Ravi Ubha: Don't think Baros has had a touch yet.

  •

    [Comment from Bobby T.]
Dzagoev with about a 30 yard shot on target but stopped fairly easily.

  •

    [Comment from RussianInCanada]
An open game favors my mighty Russians. Just happy to see Greece not sitting back with a 9 man box. Should prove to be a fun match.

  •

    [Comment from Mista]
Need to at least put the shots on target, never know what can happen if they do. The Dutch made that mistake against Denmark.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Russia and Greece trade counter-attacking chances... Both teams with passes in the box cleared for corners. It's pretty open right now.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Arshavin's corner headed away at the near post.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Turnovers in midfield haven't helped either Jan.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: The Czechs have been lucky to survive the first opening 15 minutes here in Wroclaw. Poland's shooting has been awful.

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
Czechs aren't good at the back, plain and simple.

  •

    [Comment from Charlie]
So many back line mistakes by the Czechs...

  •

Ravi Ubha: That's the danger with these types of games. They're probably going out there thinking the Russians will win, so all they need to do is draw. A dangerous mindset to have.

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
Czechs look creaky at the back.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Still early, but if it stays 0-0 after 35 minutes, the Czechs will pick up steam.

  •

    [Comment from Justin]
You think all these missed opportunities are going to end up costing them, Ravi?

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Much appreciated.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Doing my best to try and imitate the play by play from you guys.

  •

    [Comment from RussianInCanada]
It blows my mind that they start Kerzhakov over Pavelychenko.

  •

Ravi Ubha: You can't score if you don't hit the target. Seems simple enough.

  •

Ravi Ubha: OMG, can't believe how many chances they've had already. This time it's Polanski in and he shoots over.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Kerzhakov's shot just wide for Russia... Well struck. Kerzhakov entered the game with 15 touches in the box, third-most in the tournament. He trails only van Persie (18) and Torres (17).

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
KERZHAKOV CHANCE! Bending ball from inside the 18 curls inches past the upper corner

  •

    [Comment from Bobby T.]
Russian striker ALMOST had a shot on target. Still searching.

  •

Ravi Ubha: If it's Kerzhakov, you knew he wouldn't score, right?

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
Nice volley from Kerzhakov almost goes in for Russia.

  •

    [Comment from Jason]
    So close for Poland again!

  •

    [Comment from Justin]
That seemed a bit of a harsh yellow

  •

Ravi Ubha: You got it. Nicknames work. In this case.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Just save yourself and call him Kuba?

  •

    [Comment from Justin]
Wow...Not a fan of that card at all

  •

Ravi Ubha: And bang on cue, he produces a yellow for Limbersky after he trips Blaszcz...

  •

Ravi Ubha: Craig Thomson from Scotland.

  •

    [Comment from PoleFromUSA]
Info on referee for Poland-Czech match please?

  •

Ravi Ubha: Lewandowski played in, surges into the box but his left foot shot slices wide.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Another chance for Poland but missed!

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Greece had only five scoring chances through their first two games. The next closest total was Denmark (13)... Good start here though, getting a quick chance off that corner.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Nasty clash of heads from that second corner... Anyukov looks rather groggy.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
    Gekas and Anyukov down.

  •

    [Comment from Matt]
Ow, that Russian-Greek collision looked bad.

  •

    [Comment from Doug]
Greece have (amazingly) had a positive start. Sustaining pressure in the Russian end.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Early goings it looks like the Poles won't waste any time being cagey. They need to win and are going full tilt.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Cech out of his net to cut down angle on Blaszczykowski.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Good save from Malafeev. Near post flick from Katsouranis but Malafeev tips it away to safety.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Czechs in no hurry to push the tempo. A draw should be good enough for them if form holds in the other game.

  •

    [Comment from Travis]
Good save by Malafeev on that corner

  •

Ravi Ubha: Nothing doing. Side netting.

  •

James Tyler: Greece nearly score.. Malafeev with a sharp reaction save as a near-post corner is flicked goalward.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Free kick for Poland to the left of Cech, 20 yards out.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Yes, he must balance it out.

  •

    [Comment from guest]
Czech republic..Czech Czech Czech Czech Czech...

  •

    [Comment from Bobby T.]
    Swing and a whiff.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Greek cross in, offside but the header was off target from Salpingidis.

  •

    [Comment from Charlie]
I think CROSSBAR is going to have a say in how this group ends...

  •

    [Comment from Doug]
Greece in their usual 9-0-1 formation...

  •

    [Comment from PoleFromUSA]
    Polska ! Polska ! Polska ! Polska ! Polska !

  •

Ravi Ubha: Just as I was playing him up. Figures.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Great cross by Gebre Selassie but Pilar scuffs it!

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Pilar with a great chance after good work from Gebre Selassie, but Pilar scuffed his shot.

  •

Ravi Ubha: What a chance for the Czechs!

  •

Jeff Carlisle: The Czechs go close!

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Already a moral victory for Greece, passing the 2:14 mark without a Russian goal... Petr Jiracek scored 2:14 into the Czech Republic's 2-1 win on Tuesday, tied for the third-fastest goal in Euro history.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Dudka made quite an impact in the Russia game.

  •

    [Comment from Doug]
Nearly a dream start for the Poles!

  •

    [Comment from GFOP Mike]
@Jan, Szczesny's on the bench. He can't compare to a TYTON of a man.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Dudka with an attempted bike, but it's into the sidenetting.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: We're off in Wroclaw!

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
    Will do Ravi!

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
Better Szczesny do it for Poland than Arsenal.

  •

Ravi Ubha: And please, no funny business, like someone scoring when they didn't!

  •

  •

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Kolar and Jiricek are on yellows for the Czechs. Polanski and Lewandowski are on yellows for Poland.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Will do our best to keep you updated on Russia-Greece, but for those watching that, pipe in with updates!

  •

    James Tyler: Heroic, even, filabusta.

    [Comment from Doug]
Is anybody in the tournament facing an accumulated yellow card suspension? I can't think of one. And, are cards wiped out after the group stages?

  •

Ravi Ubha: Me thinks Pilar and Jiracek will have to have big games.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: No, filabusta, it's admirable.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Hey, you wouldn't want Szcz to commit another howler, would you?

  •

    [Comment from filabusta]
Is it depressing that it's nearly 3 am in China and I'm up watching Poland play football?

  •

    [Comment from James]
As an Arsenal fan, I am really upset with the line-up for Czech-Poland

  •

    [Comment from Sohi]
Greece will top this group defying everyone

  •

Ravi Ubha: Interesting that the Czechs pin their hopes on Rosicky and Baros, two players considered also rans in club football.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Not surprisingly, about an 8:1 Poland to Czech fan ratio. That's actually lower than I thought it would be.

  •

    [Comment from GFOP Mike]
Here's hoping that the Czechs will crumble without Rosicky

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
So many beards. Wait three Greeks dont have them. How are they on the squad?

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Huge Polish flag went up in the corner of the stadium. It did not say "This Is Poland" but it was impressive nonetheless.

  •

Ravi Ubha: A sea of red and white inside the stadium and the Polish players so pumped after the anthem.

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
    Possibly Ravi. Works for hockey.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Agreed.

  •

    [Comment from Frosty]
Always good to see the host nation do well! Go on you Poles!

  •

Jeff Carlisle: There was good atmosphere in the fan zone today. Check out my report:

    http://espnfc.com/us/en/blogs/euro2012/361/wroclaws-fan-zones-in-ebullient-mood

  •

Ravi Ubha: If so, no worries.

  •

Ravi Ubha: You copying me, there, Doug?

  •

    [Comment from Doug]
I know it's an American cliche, but ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!

  •

Ravi Ubha: They're doing a hockey and not shaving til they get eliminated?

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
And some bad beards for the Czechs.

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: It might get ugly in Warsaw. The Greeks have two of the three worst single-game passing percentages in the attacking third. They are the only team in the tournament to average under 50 percent passing in the final third, and could be in trouble needing a win against a counterattacking Russian side.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
And it's arguably going to be the closer game.

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Watching on ESPN2 because it's Robbie Mustoe and Adrian Healey.

  •

  •

  •

    [Comment from PoleFromUSA]
    Long Live Poland !!!

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
Man, that Poland fan zone is packed!

  •

Jeff Carlisle: They rain has started to come down here in Wroclaw. Poland fans will be hoping it's not an omen.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Steve, I want the teams that deserve to win to win :)

  •

  •

    [Comment from Steve]
WE know you all claim to be neutral, but come on. Who do you guys *want* to win tonight?

  •

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
Doug it was AMAZING. I saw it on replay today and was in awe.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Yes, if my math is right!

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
That would put Germany and Portugal through, correct? On goals scored for Portugal?

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Smuda also played for the Oakland Stompers, the Los Angeles Aztecs, and the Hartford Bicentennials.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Outstanding, Doug. Clever finish. Great cross from Theo. If only Theo could do that more often. So often his final ball lets him down.

  •

James Tyler: I expect brilliance from TYTON today.

  •

    [Comment from Pog]
Footnote: Smuda used to play for the San Jose Earthquakes in MLS. Minor west-coast rooting interest there.

  •

    [Comment from Doug]
I know it was yesterday, but how ridiculous was Welbeck's GW goal?!

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Something about the Euros seems to bring out the worst in Cech. He was bad in 2008 as well.

  •

    [Comment from Tanto]
    COME ON POLAND!

  •

Ravi Ubha: No, not at all. I'm predicting a one-goal Dutch win and a Denmark loss.

  •

    [Comment from mikeg28]
Interesting that all the goalkeeper talk has centered on the choice in Poland's goal. In my opinion, Petr Cech has had a worse tournament than Szczesny (he was out of sorts giving up 4 in first game and had that howler in game 2.)

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Yes, although Smuda was playing it down at yesterday's press conference. He thinks the Greece game was the most intense.

  •

    [Comment from Nick]
Jeff, is Poland easily under the most pressure to perform today, considering they're playing in front of the home crowd?

  •

    [Comment from Alex]
So Ravi you're predicting Denmark to get at least a draw?

  •

    [Comment from jay]
i'll be wathcing one game on the tv and have the other game on espn radio

  •

Ravi Ubha: Yes, can't wait, either, Hamza. I'll be at Ned-Por.
I think the Dutch will win but will be eliminated.

  •

    [Comment from Hamza]
Can't wait to see the group of death tomorrow!!!

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Zyryanov is ill.

  •

    [Comment from Max]
Interesting decision to start Glushakov. Is Zyryanov hurt?

  •

Jeff Carlisle: I'm in Wroclaw at the Poland/Czech game.

  •

James Tyler: Afternoon to both of you! And to the folks joining us in chat! I warn that I'll be a passing influence today -- bit like Rasmus Elm -- but here in spirit. Come on, Polska!

  •

    [Comment from Joshua from Ohio]
Which game will you be commenting on today Mr.Carlisle?

  •

Jeff Carlisle: 2-1 Poland; 1-0 Russia.

  •

    [Comment from sam]
    jeff, what is your predictions?

  •

    [Comment from Hamza]
I'm going to go to watch poland vs czech

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Not so sure about Kerzhakov. His movement and link play have been excellent.

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
    The good JT.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Hi, James.

  •

Ravi Ubha: So, Advocaat sticking with Kerzhakov. Last chance saloon, me thinks.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Tyton is capable of doing that. I don't see him getting tested that much with Rosicky out for the Czechs.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Russia vs. Greece:

Greece: Sifakis, Torosidis, Papastathopoulos, Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Tzavelas, Katsouranis, Maniatis, Salpingidis, Karagounis, Samaras, Gekas. Subs: Chalkias, Malezas, Makos, Liberopoulos, Mitroglou, Fotakis, Ninis, Holebas, Fortounis, Fetfatzidis, Tzorvas.

Russia: Malafeev, Aniukov, Berezutsky, Ignashevich, Zhirkov, Shirokov, Denisov, Glushakov, Dzagoev, Kerzhakov, Arshavin. Subs: Akinfeev, Sharonov, Izmailov, Pavlyuchenko, Kombarov, Granat, Pogrebnyak, Nababkin, Semshov, Shunin.

  •

    James Tyler: Afternoon, all

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Fire at will, Ravi... I'm excited to start.

  •

    [Comment from Doug]
In hockey, pundits talk about goalies stealing playoff wins. Can Tyton steal a win today or would Sczcesny be more likely to do that?

  •

Jeff Carlisle: We'll see. Greece needs to win though. Tough to do a smash and grab under those circumstances.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Hi, John.
We might be picking your brains more than usual a little later!

  •

    [Comment from Hamza]
    Greece might do a chelsea

  •

ESPN Stats and Info: Good afternoon, all... John Parolin from ESPN Stats and Information ready to enjoy today's action!

  •

Ravi Ubha: The Greeks need to attack, so I think Russia will have its chances on the counter. Just what it likes.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Possible, though Dick Advocaat is an experienced manager. I think he'll have his team ready.

  •

    [Comment from Ryan]
Do you think it's possible that Russia will overlook the Greeks and is taking this game for granted?

  •

    [Comment from Hamza]
I think Poland will beat the Czechs, 1-0 or 2-1

  •

Jeff Carlisle: I picked Poland to win, 2-1. I think Russia will prevail 1-0 over Greece.

  •

    [Comment from Kyle]
Tyton came in and saved a penalty cold while Szczesny looked nervy and out of place in game 1. Tyton all the way.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Poland, we should point out, has never won a game at the Euros.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Yeah, good point.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Wouldnt' say biggest game in Poland's history. They are two-time World Cup semifinalists after all. Still big though, and no, I don't thinkn Smuda is rolling the dice. Tyton has been good and occasionally brilliant. If he doesn't save that penalty against Greece, Poland would probably be playing for nothing today.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Tyton is the safer option.

  •

Ravi Ubha: I wouldn't say so. Szczesny prolly has more of a mistake in him than Tyton.

  •

    [Comment from Doug]
Is Smuda rolling the dice on Tyton here? This is arguably the biggest game in Polish football history.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: He's out. Check out the beginning of the chat there Guest.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Can you tell the hotel here to do the same, Jan?

  •

    [Comment from Guest]
Anyone know if rosicky is playing?

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
I'm breaking out the xbox and watching them both on the split screen.

  •

    [Comment from Ryan]
Greece has set a record for the most letters on the kits of their central defenders

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Kolar was very unimpressive against Greece. He's going to need to step up big today.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Poland and the Czechs.

  •

[Comment from I wish i was a UK boy]
    which game should i watch?

  •

Ravi Ubha: Bobby T, as mentioned earlier, Russia and Poland.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Joshua, I'd watch the Poland/Czech game. Great atmosphere guaranteed. Lots of pressure on the hosts.

  •

    [Comment from Bobby T.]
Who do you see going through today Ravi?

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
I picked Russia and Czech Republic to advance from this group.

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
    Tyton has earned it.

  •

    [Comment from Joshua from Ohio]
Which game should i watch jeff?

  •

Ravi Ubha: Rosicky out injured, which means Daniel Kolar comes in. Big loss, I guess.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: I think Poland manager Franciszek Smuda feels Tyton is the safer choice, that he's less likely to make a huge mistake. Tyton has also been big for Poland as well.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Before the tourney, there was thought to be little difference between him and Szczesny. The latter told a paper this morning he expected to return to goal.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: For Poland, an unchanged side, meaning Tyton is preferred to Szczesny in goal.

  •

    [Comment from Rory]
    Interesting sticking with Tyton

  •

Jeff Carlisle: As you can see, no Tomas Rosicky for the Czechs. In fact, I don't even see him warming up on the field, so it looks like a miracle cameo is not possible. Huge blow for Michal Bilek's side.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Perfect timing, Jeff.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: I have the lineups for the Czech/Poland match and here they are:

    Poland: 22-Tyton; 2-Boenisch, 15-Perquis, 13-Wasilewski, 20-Pisczcek; 7-Polanski, 5-Dudka; 10-Obraniak, 11-Murawski, 16-Blaszczykowski; 9-Lewsandowski

    Czech: 1-Cech; 8-Limbersky, 3-Kadlec, 6-Sivok, 2-Gebre Salassie; 13-Plasil, 17-Hubschmann; 14-Pilar, 18-Kolar, 19-Jiricek; 15-Baros

  •

    [Comment from Stretch]
    Let's rock!

  •

Ravi Ubha: That would see Russia and Poland advance.

  •

Ravi Ubha: Ok, here goes: Russia and the Czechs to win. Russia 3-1, Poland 2-1.

  •

Jeff Carlisle: Greetings everyone from high above the field here at the Municipal Stadium in Wroclaw!

  •

    [Comment from Scouser]
    Predictions??

  •

    [Comment from Jan]
    Heck yes Ravi!

  •

Ravi Ubha: Here to bring you the action on Group A's final day.
Gonna focus on one of the games -- and I think it'll be Poland-Czechs.
I'm at the mercy of Ukrainian/Russian TV.

  •

    Ravi Ubha: Hi, folks.
Are you ready for some football?
