Orlando City SC were shock 2-1 extra-time losers to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the NASL.

Jose Angulo gave the Strikers a good start in the 12th minute, picking up a through ball and beating Orlando goalkeeper Earl Edwards.

Orlando would level just three minutes later, with Kevin Molino slicing through the Ft. Lauderdale defense and calmly chipping in past Diego Restrepo.

The Chicago Fire are headed to the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals after holding on to beat Columbus Crew SC 2-1 at the Windy City's Toyota Park.

David Accam got the hosts off to the perfect start when he fired home from distance in the seventh minute following an assist from John Goossens to beat Columbus goalkeeper Brad Stuver.

And it would be Accam again in the 29th minute, when he connected with a Rodrigo Ramos cross in the center of the box and beat Stuver once again with another right-footed shot.

Ft. Lauderdale take down D.C. United, N.Y. Cosmos beat New York City FC

The Fort Lauderdale Strikers got Wednesday's U.S. Open Cup action started with a bang, beating Major League Soccer's D.C. United 4-3 on penalty kicks after 120 minutes of scoreless regular and extra time.

The Strikers' Matheus Carvalho slotted the decisive penalty after United's Luciano Acosta and Jared Jeffrey missed their spot kicks.

David Mateos' second-half strike was enough for Orlando City edge out fellow Florida club Jacksonville Armada 1-0.

Real Salt Lake sneak past Wilmington, Portland knocks out San Jose

Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake were pushed all the way to penalties by minnows the Wilmington Hammerheads in Tuesday's U.S. Open Cup fourth round action.

Second-half goals from Joao Plata and Juan Manuel Martinez helped RSL level the score at 2-2 in regular time after Mael Corboz and Justin Moose had put the Hammerheads in front.

Jeff Attinella then made the key save for Jeff Cassar's men in the shootout, before Chris Wingert converted winning penalty to help RSL progress 3-1.

Vancover Whitecaps and Toronto FC reach Canadian Championship final

The Whitecaps rallied to beat the Ottawa Fury on Wednesday.

The Vancouver Whitecaps will face Toronto FC in the final of the Canadian Championship after both teams prevailed in semifinals on Wednesday night.

The defending champions Whitecaps rallied from a two-goal deficit from last week's first leg to fend off the Ottawa Fury of the NASL with a 3-0 win.

Pedro Morales began the comeback with a penalty in the third minute after Nicolas Mezquida was fouled in the box, and Mezquida levelled the score on aggregate in the 20th minute with a goal of his own.
