Luis Suarez confirmed in Uruguay squad for friendlies

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay -- Luis Suarez has been included in Uruguay's 22-man squad for two international friendlies this month against Saudi Arabia and Oman.

It will be the forward's first selection for Uruguay since biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.

Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez announced the team on Thursday for matches at Saudi Arabia on Oct. 10 and at Oman three days later.

Although being allowed to play the friendlies, Suarez is still banned from Uruguay's next eight competitive matches. This means he will miss next year's Copa America and some World Cup qualifiers.

The ban also covers competitive matches until later this month for his club team Barcelona.

Tabarez, who on Friday signed a new four-year contract with the nation, said: "The details of the subject [of his ban] I will talk about only with Luis Suarez.

"You have to be humble and not judge. I accept that people have opinions, but when you judge it doesn't agree with me. Everything that a person goes through is useful for that person to, if they would like, help them improve."

Tabarez also explained that Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani had been left out of the squad because "he is tired from playing too many matches."
