Christian Pulisic, Tyler Adams withdraw from U.S. squad due to injuries

Christian Pulisic and Tyler Adams have withdrawn from the United States' October friendly squad due to injuries, U.S. Soccer confirmed on Friday.

Pulisic, who missed Borussia Dortmund's Champions League victory against Monaco on Wednesday, has torn fibers in a calf muscle, while Adams is suffering from back spasms.

Philadelphia Union winger Fafa Picault has been added to the U.S. squad, which will now consist of 23 players instead of 24.

Pulisic, 20, also missed the friendlies against Brazil and Mexico in September because of an injury and last played for the U.S. against Bolivia in May.

The Hershey, Pensylvania, native has been capped 21 times for the U.S., scoring nine goals.

New York Red Bulls midfielder Adams has made seven appearances for his country since his November 2017 debut, scoring once.

The U.S. will face Colombia on Oct. 11 in Tampa, Florida, and Peru on Oct. 16 in East Hartford, Connecticut.
