Jurgen Klinsmann has said he will return to coaching "for sure" but is enjoying a break following his departure as U.S. coach in November 2016.
Klinsmann, 53, whose son Jonathan is a backup goalkeeper at Hertha Berlin, told German magazine Socrates he would look to make a comeback after the World Cup.
"I will be back for sure," he said when asked about his future coaching plans. "It's a nice break right now, and I am enjoying it.
"I don't know when I will take over a coaching job again. I am looking forward to the World Cup in Russia, and I'll be active after that."
The former Germany coach warned that domestic German football risked falling behind after a disappointing season in European competition.
Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig have qualified for the quarterfinals of the Champions League and Europa League respectively, but Borussia Dortmund, Hoffenheim, Cologne, Hertha and Freiburg all crashed out of continental competition.
"It's a critical moment," Klinsmann said. "There is a certain contentedness following the 2014 World Cup triumph in Brazil and Bundesliga clubs' good results in the Champions League.
"But the recent developments on the European stage are not a good sign. It's important that everyone's aware there is a lack of success."
