Bruce Arena makes seven changes to U.S. lineup to face Honduras

United States coach Bruce Arena has made seven changes to his lineup for Tuesday night's crucial World Cup qualifier in Honduras.

Only Michael Bradley, Darlington Nagbe, Christian Pulisic and Graham Zusi retain their spots from the team that lost to Costa Rica on Friday.

Clint Dempsey returns to the starting XI after playing a role as a super-sub in the U.S.'s previous three games. The start gives Dempsey 41 apperances in World Cup qualifying, putting him past Landon Donovan for the most in U.S. history.

Dempsey and Donovan are also tied for the most goals in national team history, and the Sounders forward will break the mark with his next goal for the U.S.

The U.S. defense is much-changed, with Brad Guzan replacing Tim Howard in goal, and the previous center-back pairing of Tim Ream and Geoff Cameron replaced by Omar Gonzalez and veteran DaMarcus Beasley.

Pulisic is the only European-based played in the squad. Gonzalez plays for Pachuca in Mexico, but the other nine players are all from MLS clubs.

The two teams enter the game level on points for the third and final automatic qualifying spot for the World Cup. The fourth-placed team will go to a playoff against the winners of Australia and Syria.
