Borussia Dortmund teenager Christian Pulisic headlines Jurgen Klinsmann's squad list ahead of critical CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers against Mexico on Friday and Costa Rica four days later.
Klinsmann selected 26 players, including the returns of Bayern Munich midfielder Julian Green and Colorado Rapids midfielder Jermaine Jones to the national team setup.
The German boss also gave 18-year-old Tottenham center-back Cameron Carter-Vickers his first call.

The 18-year-old Pulisic, who became the youngest American to score an international goal in the modern era earlier this year, has been regularly counted on by Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel this season.
The Pennsylvania-born midfielder has already made eight appearances for the national team, scoring three goals. And his inclusion in Klinsmann's squad likely will see him earning a starting place as his importance within the team continues to grow.
Green, 21, has been somewhat of an outsider with the national team since making his debut at the 2014 World Cup and scoring against Belgium in the round of 16.
However, the Bayern man helped his cause for future inclusion in the team after scoring a goal in each of the the U.S.'s October friendlies against Cuba and New Zealand.
Jones, 35, has been battling a knee injury as the Rapids look to progress in the MLS playoffs. However, Klinsmann has seen fit to include the hardworking veteran in his team.
Defender Geoff Cameron, midfielder Kyle Beckerman and forward Chris Wondolowski are among those who will miss out on the qualifiers.
Cameron was paired with John Brooks in central defense during this year's Copa America but has missed Stoke's last two Premier League games after hyperextending a knee against Hull on Oct. 22. Omar Gonzalez, Matt Besler, Steve Birnbaum and Michael Orozco are the candidates to replace him the starting lineup.
Beckerman and Wondolowski play for Major League Soccer teams whose seasons are over, and the nature of their injuries was not clear.
Forward Aron Johannsson returns for the first time since September 2015. He injured a groin that Sept. 26 playing for Werder Bremen and did not return until Aug. 26.
The U.S. has beaten Mexico 2-0 in four consecutive home qualifiers, all in Columbus, where the Americans will face Mexico this time around.
Twenty-three players can dress for each game. The top three nations qualify for the 2018 World Cup, and the No. 4 team advances to a playoff against the fifth-place Asian team for another berth.
