Two second-half goals were enough for Brechin to progress through to the next round of the Scottish Cup as they saw off Arbroath 2-0.
Chances were at a premium in a poor first half with neither side able to create many genuine opportunities on goal.
Michael Travis came closest for the hosts in the opening stages with a powerful header, narrowly missing the target.
Lee Sibanda and Graham Bayne followed up with quickfire efforts but neither came any closer to opening the scoring.
Brechin returned with more purpose after the break and found themselves ahead just before the hour mark when Andrew Jackson was well placed to convert Alan Trouten's cross.
And Trouten sealed a well-deserved victory two minutes from time when he thumped home a fine second from the edge of the penalty area.
