Beattie wins it for Dundee

Craig Beattie scored late on as Dundee snatched a 2-1 win over Queen of South at Dens Park to keep up the pressure on leaders Hamilton.

Clear-cut chances were few and far between in the first half. Gavin Rae hand an early chance to open the scoring for the Dee, but his right-footed drive was parried away by Alexander Clark in the Doonhammers goal.

Dundee finally broke the deadlock after 77 minutes. Jim McAlister's shot from the left-side of the box was fumbled by Clark, and Peter MacDonald was on hand to smash how the loose ball.

However, their lead lasted less than three minutes as substitute Derek Lyle snatched an equaliser for the visitors, slotting Christopher Mitchell's pass past Kyle Letheren.

Yet the home side weren't done yet as Beattie smashed home the winner from the middle of the box after 89 minutes to earn the Dee three points.
